Default Some pics of my new exhaust

Here's what happened. I switched from SLP LT's to Grott 1 7/8's. The Grott headers are real nice but the y-pipe was really ghetto. So I decided to go with a true dual setup with an X-pipe crossover. Well, that didn't work out because my exhaust guy said the Spohn TA brace was preventing him from doing it right. When you see the pics it will be clear. He would have had to put some crazy bends in that would've defeated the purpose.

So we decided to go with a 3 1/2" y-pipe (ovaled on the driver side) to a flowmaster collector (3 1/2 to 4", very nice collector) and then 4" back to a Dynomax race muffler turned down before the axle. The floor board had to be modified to fit the muffler.

I haven't even driven it yet, but it sounds GREAT!! I'll post some sound clips over the weekend.

Hey Dave,

I fixed your links:

Exhaust 1
Exhaust 2
Exhaust 3
Exhaust 4
Exhaust 5

Looks sweet!! Where did you get the 3.5" oval piping?

Jason, thanks a lot! I'm new to pic posting (like you can't tell). What am I doing wrong?

The 3.5 oval was made by the exhaust shop.

would have worked if you would have put .JPG on the end of it. This will display the image. If you just want to have a link, use the same http://...., but you use instead.

Jason, I used the Instant UBB Code buttons on this page and tried it many different ways, including the .JPG. Do the buttons work, or should I just key it in?

Anyway, thanks again for your help.

Dave

Looks really nice.

I used to have a Mufflex 4" catback and I swapped to that same muffler... Sounded good kind of old school, excellent at WOT.

So John, is this muffler quiet enough for you? I'm expecting this to be pretty loud, but I hope it's not crazy. I'm also planning on some sound insulation (dynomat type stuff) under the carpet in the muffler area.

Wednesday I tried to do the same thing at Mufflex, however Denny said the same thing about the Spohn Torque Arm where the cross brace was in the way. So, we ended up installing a new Y-Pipe exactly like yours to a 4" Mufflex system out the back w/a Spintech muffler and dual tips.

That set up you have looks awesome... can't wait to hear how it sounds.

I had the same problem as you, but got rid of the cross brace, and then took the driveshaft loop off, cut the loop part off, and welded the loop onto my torque arm to get everything to fit. It was a bitch, but it's done!!

Very, very nice exhaust work. Looks mandrel bent. No getto crimps as far as I can tell. How'd they do it?

Dave, what is your old exhaust setup?

I had:

tts lt's, 3" orp, mufflex 4" w/flowmaster
then,
tts lt's, 3" orp, mufflex 4" w/that muffler
now,
tts lt's, 3" ovalized duals, borla xr1 sportsmans

I think you will find it a little noisy dumping at the axle but it will sound manly. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Patrick, he bends everything in house (mandrel).

John, my first exhaust was the dual-dual from the factory. Then I added SLP headers, which got me the SLP y (nice y-pipe). Then I swapped in a Magnaflow muffler (liked it a lot). Then came the Grott headers with the nasty y-pipe, which I just removed for this current system.
