I think the SLP's are as good a header as any others for our cars. I switched to bigger headers (Grotts) and saw no difference in power. I had my SLP's for over a year as a daily driver in all kinds of weather, and they looked like new when I took them off. No discoloration.

I have no complaints with my SLP long tubes other than cost. I think normal gain is about 20-25 rwhp which what I saw after going from stock manifolds to the SLP long tubes, 3" y-pipe and Random Tech high flow cats. This was with my cut out closed. Wonder if I would gain much with it open?
Anyway, does anyone know of people not getting at least 20 rwhp out of the SLPs with their y-pipe and high flow cats? If so, I would like to know. And I would like to know what rwhp gains people are seeing with the other headers. I don't want opinions, just facts. Thanks.

Here's my take on what caused the crack, when installing SLP LT headers you need to leave the headers loose when installing the y-pipe. Once the y-pipe is connected to the headers you can tighten the header bolts down, the tighting of the header bolts draws the header outwards at the y-pipe (causing pressure). If there was a weak weld at the y-pipe it would cause it to crack, JMO.

Country Boy, for only being 8 months old those sure don't look good. Coated stainless steel headers should hold up a lot better then that, you should contact SLP and e-mail them those pictures. If they can't do wright by you I let everyone know they don't stand by there products, hopefully they will.

I actually did contact them (on their message board) and Dave and JeffY answered. They said that they dont know what it was and to pretty much deal with it. Its "normal" Needless to say, that I will NEVER buy another SLP product! I dont know what caused to Y-pipe to break. It wasnt ground clearence, I never had a problem with that, but they dont care either.

Thoses were some quick digitl pics I took, but it looks ALOT worse in person. I have some prints that are worse.

I have a Firehawk so I'm partial to SLP. The answer your getting from Dave or JeffY is from SLP, NOT "SLP performance parts"(where you bought them from). I think some of their answers are 'double talk'. For example, I want to know the difference from the Troy, MI (SLP) installed Bilstien suspension vs. the SLP performance parts (Tom's River, NJ) Bilstein suspension. When I bought the set up at SLP day I(Englishtown), I was told it's the same stuff . You would think "SLP worldwide" is bigger than IBM .

Post your complaint and pictures over at the PERFORMANCE PARTS section of the SLP message board. You'll get an answer quick or prospective customers will get a gander of your pictures and go a different direction(ie:FLP,MAC, etc...)

ss125,

That is interesting, thanks for the info and sorry to hear you didn't get the results you were expecting. Did you figure things out yet? I know I gained with my install which included headers, high flow cats and y-pipe. Those three components are recomended to be used together. Perhaps you could be right about the y-pipe being installed prior to headers and then the header gains would be less significant by themselves, but still should have been higher. Let us know if you figure out what happened and good luck.

Have you guys seen the magnetic fuel enhancer product. Basically a magnet that "aligns" the fuel molecules and increases your MPG by AND horsepower by 30%, I can't wait to get mine...

That's one thing I love about SLP, they always try to provide accurate and reasonable projections on how much horsepower their fantastic mods will produce.

PS. SLP does not currently sell any magnetic fuel aligner product yet... but I am sure that when they come out with their version of it, it will produce gains of at LEAST 40% horsepower.
