I bought a used electric cut-out, I don't recall the brand. However, I eventually took it off because it never sealed shut completely and I was tired of hearing the exhaust leak. I guess if I knew a way to fix it permanently I'd re-install it.

Had a DMH e-cutout, broke after about 7 months. Leaked for most of that time, too. It's still under warranty, I just hate cutouts and no longer have one.

did you not like the sound or was it the problems you had with them?

The problems, mostly. The volume was cool inside the car but I'm sure it sounded like crap to anyone outside. I mean, let's be serious, they hardly cost anything and they're proven to give you a performance gain using most of today's catbacks. You just have to be willing to accept everything else that comes with. Personally, I got tired of only having the option of being loud and stinky, or stock and quiet. So I just went ahead and splurged for a full catback with a sound I wanted to hear all the time.

Headers will be here tomorrow and I'll have the exact volume and note I'm after.

To me qtp is great as long as you dont open/close it more than once a month.Thats my experience with them. I have the one Chris 1313 has now, its been working great, so far. After previous experiences I have very little faith in most e-utouts. I usually never open/close it more than a couple of times a week too.

Another one with dual McCord's. I've had the cutouts for about a year but they have only been on the car for three weeks. Couldn't be happier

I'd had my QTP electric cut out on the car for well over a year now in various weather conditions as well and it's spot on reliable, opening and closing every time.

Got a McCord here. I love it! Although I haven't had it for about a month though.

I've had a McCord for probably over three years now and it still works fine. I've only had two problems. The first one is that the light switch gets easily misaligned. I just gave up trying to fix it cause frankly it's not a big deal at all. I can just go by sound. The other issue is that now it won't close all the way but that is not McCord's fault it's clear that something hit the Powerplate and the butterly valve and the entire frame are bent. That being said the thing still works! So I'd say they are built pretty well and I will be taking my business back to McCord.

That being said I do need to get this cutout fixed. Can someone post or PM me Keith's contact information?

Thanks all,
Mike

I had dual Mccord cutouts on my SS for about a year. They started rattling when closed after about 10 months and around the year mark one fell completely apart. And I only drive my car on pretty, sunny weekends!! The Mccord seemed to be a great product at first, I was happy with the features and all. Leaning towards the DMH now.

so how often do you cuttout owners open and close your cuttouts? I would like to do it whenever I feel like it, maybe 10 times in one day if I want to. Which brand would be my best bet for that?

Cutouts are like women, just pick one, try it out and see how it goes. They are all different and have the same problems. My QTP is still going strong, but when it quits, I will just buy a new one. The price you pay.
