I would prefer the FTRA with a whisper lid over a FIPK. But that’s just IMO.
Having a WS6 I have no need for any type of under-bumper ram air. I’m using the BG ram air kit that makes a WS6 hood a real ram air setup and dumping that into a whisper lid. BG ram air will only work on WS6s though. If I had anything else but a WS6 I would probably get the FTRA or similar setup.

I Atapped my car with both a lid(minus the FTRA) and the FIPK on the same day. With the exact same conditions and an extrerior temp of 70* , The FIPK showed 10 to 12 degrees warmer air intake temp at idle and took much longer to cool down (to the tune of a couple of miles) once the car was moving.

I made an infamous post back in Feb comparing the lid/FTRA versus the FIPK on my 422. Bottom line - with the hood closed the FIPK lost 25-30 HP across the entire powerband, while the lid/FTRA showed no change. Hood open they were about the same.

It's all a matter of preference. The FTRA sucks everything from water to dirt and leaves up to the air filter. I constantly had to clean my filter when I used that FTRA/lid setup. When the car is moving cool air is circulated under the hood. The FIPK has more filter surface and does not lend to sucking water into the motor or blocking air going into the radiator. I have had both and currently have the FIPK. IMO they both increase performance over stock, one is a little safer than the other. My car pulls like a champ using the FIPK, it pulled well with the other also, it is just a matter of preference.
