I need help with muffler selection..
Chris P. keeps telling me to go with Dynomax Ultra Flow. What is the part # that I want. I am ordering the axle over, but I do not know what the highest flowing muffler they have that sounds like my dual dual.. I am looking on Summits website..

I seem to be doing well with the flowmaster on my SS. I know the loudmouth is probably the most freeflowing set up but is VERY loud, especially with headers and no cats. I have FLP's an no cats on my car and the ringing in my ears goes away after a bit .

The Whisper cat-back is a nice exhaust. It is a bit loud with long tubes and off-road pipes but it flows well. I dynoed at Norris's shop with the cutout open and through the Whisper and the pulls were almost identical.

that muffler is very good. also check out the magnaflow muffler, quiet at idle and loud at WOT! built with similarities to the bullet muffler, but a real muffler and forces a slight directional change. you can nearly see through the muffler as well.
as for flowmaster - we all know they are POS! flow as bad as a stocker.

by the way, if it were me, i would get the hooker catback for the cost, performance (same as the others), and the ability to take off the muffler and tips at the track very quickly.

Re: I need help with muffler selection..
Thanks.. The performance is great on the hooker Catback from what I have heard. Someone told me they did several back to back comparison. On one car they lost 1rwhp compared to the cutout and another said 3rwhp.. That sounds good to me. I do not know if any others have dyno compared..

Re: I need help with muffler selection..
How about running a Single 3" Borla Xr1 with a single out the drivers side and put a dummy pipe on the other side if you want the dual tip look I went with a 98 WS6 polished tip on mine . I just went to this set up a few weeks ago and it is alot quiter then the 4" Mufflex single out I had before. With the windows up and the AC on you can hardley hear the exhaust in the car unless you are at WOT. This system has no raspiness to it at all as far as power loss I doubt there is any plus its alot lighter

I love DynoMax. I've had it on all my trucks. UltraFlo's are straight through design.
And to be honest, anything that is straight through (no chambering) will flow the best and those with bigger diameter piping such as the complete 3.5" ATR or 4: Mufflex are tops in this category.

Vince, make sure you let me know when you get your muffler... I want to hear it. I need to find something loud and deep for the T/A. I would like to just go with a muffler for now... LT's and true duals will be in the future.

Dual outlet mufflers are by design inefficient.
If you want to have the highest flowing with decent sound control go with
WLK-17229 Ultra Flo, 3 in. offset inlet/outlet, muffler ... $65.95
This is an OVAL muffler not just a bullet like the race magnum dynomax.
I went 127mph through the full exhaust with this setup.
Very efficient and great sound control. You want to maximize your horsepower this is the best way.

Re: I need help with muffler selection..
What about getting the SLP "2 out on the left" muffler, and instead of both on the left, fabricate a tailpipe to go from the 2nd left hole to run to the right side? I had that exhaust on my Z, and it sounded good, it just took getting used to 2 on the left... I always thought about refabbing the "right" side pipe to go back to the right side of the car.
