Default car running chitty after converter/headers install

Ok we just installed a yank 3500 with Hooker long tubes and off road pipe. my qeustion is that when we put the headers and stall in the ran ran like a raped ape now it seems to be falling a little short. I raced him in my car right after we installed the verter and headers and he creamed me by about 4 cars and steady pulling. The mods to my car are lid and a cutout. thats it.

Coould the computer possibly have learned what up with the headers and verter.

Do we need any sort of special tunign or any thing?

Here are the exact mods to the car:

2000 TA WS6
Hooker long tubes
offroad y
slploudmouth
Granatelli MAF
MTI LID
Yank 3500

Where it seems to be loosing the most is in the 1-2 shift the car falls on its face for 1-2 seconds then comes back up. Is the gmaf causing a problem? I have heard of this happening due to these mass airs

THANKS IN ADVANCE

I would go out on a limb and say it's your Granatelli. Do you have a diagnostic like Autotap or Scanmaster? Or do you have access to a diagnostic?
From your mods, that MAF isn't enough flow in front of the block to off-set the rich condition your exhaust after the block is causing.
in a nut-shell: I'd guess you're running pig-rich right now.
I'd say find somebody who can tap you and then get a mass air-flow translator to dial in your a/f ratio.

you could be rich, you could be experiencing torque management, or you could be just barely tagging the rev limiter. Like Dragon said, you need a scan tool to properly diagnose and stop the guessing.

HERE'S HOW MICROSOFT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM > TURN THE CAR OF AND RE-BOOT IT. ANYWAY > I'AM 99% SURE ITS PROBABLY YOUR SHIFT POINTS. THE MAF DOESN'T MAKE THE A/F CHANGE ENOUGH TO MAKE THAT KIND OF DIFFERANCE (THE PROBLEM THAT YOU ARE DISCRIBING). I SAY CHANGE THE SHIFT POINTS AND ALL WILL BE GOOD. BY THE WAY > THE SLP MAF IS MUCH CHEAPER. NO USE CRYING OVER SPILT MILK. <img border="0" alt="[whiner]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" />
