Got rid of my cats today
Got rid of my cats today and with the borla plate open, the car sounded like **** lol. So raspy it was horrible, so i put the close off plate in and with all the exhaust going through the muffler it actually sounds pretty damn good. The only thing that sux is these damn FLP clamps dont seal worth a damn so you can hear an exhaust leak tick cause the flanges after the LT headers dont seal all the way. I might just get the muffler shop to cut off the FLP flanges and weld 3 bolt flanges on so i can use gaskets.

LOL, you ditch the cats to gain power, then you have to close your exhaust to tone down the rasp, losing power. It's a tough situation.

i doubt one borla muffler makes me lose more power than 2 cats, but i didn't do it for power, i took the cats off cause i was afraid they might have been clogged cause the tune in this damn TA is too rich. Once i get the car tuned better and get the A/F correct, i might put em back on just to be street legal tho. The FLP longtube setup is nice since it comes with high-flow cats and test pipes so you can swap the cats in and out in like 15 minutes. but the flanges dont seal worth a **** so it's a trade off.

Sounds like a fair trade-off because obviously of which rpms the loss or a gain would be seen. After you do that though, and get a new tune, [speaking big picture now] what you want to keep in mind is the potential of a no cat system is just proportionally greater than a cat system--therefore if I were you it would be a no-brainer.

after i first posted this thread, it was too raspy so i ended up putting the cats back on, but i took them off again today, but i got a flo-pro twister muffler welded in the I-pipe, right after my y-pipe but before the axle, man it sounds great. Right now i'm basically running LT's, ORY, then the twister muffler, then out a cutout (open plate borla) it sounds so much better than using the borla's muffler (closing the plate). And now, it i wanna make it quieter, i can close the borla plate and run the borla and twister mufflers, and i'm sure that'll be pretty tame. But i love the sound of the ORY and twister muffler then cutout. It sounds so mean and smooth all the way to redline. Anyone who wants to get rid of their cats, put a twister muffler after your y-pipe and you'll be set.
