Hooker long tubes on an '01

Re: Hooker long tubes on an '01
Yes, the air tubes will need to be modified, the base needs to be rotated 90 degrees. Or you can use the '98-'99 air tubes (kinda wish I should have, they don't cost much). The OEM cats use 2" or 2.25" diameter tubes, the Hooker ORY pipe is 3", I wouldn't recommend it. I didn't run cats, but some people are using either Random Technologies or CarSound cats. Oh, you'll alos need an EGR block off plate for the headers. Let me know if you have any more question, I'd be happy to answer.

George,
How bad is the rasp with the ory? I have a B&B catback and I'm hoping the rasp isn't very bad. How hard was it to modify the 01' AIR tubes to work with the Hookers? Thanks for all of your help.
John

Check out my videos to hear what the Hooker LTs and ORY pipe sound like (I have a Hooker catback as well). Rasp is not too bad, but noticeable in lower rpms when you really get on it. If you drive normal it is hard to hear (with a stock converter ).

As I mentioned John, I used a torch to bend the air tubes. I removed the check valves and the wrap (easy, be patient with them). I heated the tubes until they were red hot and used two plier to bend them (if you have access to a bolted down vise, use it), while my father kept applying heat.

Besides the headers, what all do I need to install Hooker LT's on a '01 T/A? I know I will need a Y-pipe, O2 simms, gaskets, bolts and I think something has to be done with the AIR tubes.
Can cats be easily welded into the Hooker Y, and if so which ones flow the best?
