Electric Cut-out. Go through the stock muffler just cruising, then totally bypass it when you want to make it roar.

For a sleeper, I'd agree with the cutout suggestion, or go with SLP's Dual/Dual exhaust. Quiet at cruising, but flows very well.

the stock exhaust with a cut out is gonna work the best from the sleeper approach.

E. Cut-outs

What they are: Flowtech QTP electric cutout
What they do:

What to look for: An electric cutout is the best bet, you can be loud when you need/want it to be and quite when you need/want it to be all at the flip of a switch. A standard cut you you’ll need to get under the car to cap or uncap it. A cutout is a great mod for cheap horsepower and sound.

How/Where to install: For an electric cutout follow the wiring guide instructions. For both type of cutouts you'll need to have them welded in. You have a few options of placement. The easiest is the I-pipe as there is plenty of room. You can also run dual cutouts in place of where the cats would be (on a LT' setup). Dual cats and cutouts can be done but the fitment will be very close and you'll need to run some small cats.

This is a cutout. You put it before the muffler. When uncapped, it bypasses the muffler, because the exhaust will take the least restrictive route to escape. The most common place to install it is in the I-pipe under the rear pass. side seat.

This is a QTP electric cutout valve that is attached to the cutout itself. It makes it alot easier to open than by having to crawl under the car and take off the cap that comes with the regular cutout. You have a toggle switch that opens/closes it from inside the car.

I love my hooker setup I've got now. LT's + 3" Random Tech Cats + 2.5" Custom Y => Hooker catback. Its got a nice rumble to it, but to an untrained ear ... my car sounds like a stock car w/ a catback. Even with the cam. It flows really well as well. It's got a good tone all through the RPM band, and never gets obnoxious.

as long as you dont mind welding it, then starting the car anc checking for leaks a few times you could just do it yourself.
