thank you very much
I am finished with questions
I appreciate all assistance
The SLP lid has a hole in it for you to plug in the hose to the AIR pump, so that is why they do not provide the breather.
I have the SLP lid and it is OK. I have a Holley PowerShot filter and it fits into the lid perfect - it seals up just fine. The only problem I have with the SLP lid is on the back there is about a 1/16" gap between it and the lower air box...so basically unfiltered air can get in there and get into the intake. I took my lid off after about 2 weeks of having it and I noticed a piece of grass and a dandelion stuck onto the MAF screen. I took a piece of 3/8" foam weatherstripping and ran it across the back of the lid between the lower air box and lid. Since then (several months) Ive had no debris in my MAF screen.
Im not sure why exactly the lid does not seal 100%. From what I have read on here all the lids have some sort of minor problems....
You would think that the $100 the manufacturers are charging for a piece of plastic they would be able to make a lid that seals 100%...
Personally I would not go with the K&N cause I hear people talking about this additional rubber seal you need to put in to properly seal the K&N - I have no such problems with the Holley Powershot.
I would say go with whatever lid you like the best..but I would highly recommend the Holley filter over the K&N. Ive had K&N filters before for other cars and never had a problem with it - Im surprised that as many people complain about it as they do....I guess just for the F-bodys they are not engineered as well. But like I said I have not personally had experience with the K&N filter and the F-Body so I cant speak 100% for the quality of it. But I am very happy with the Holley filter.
