Whisper claims what?

All the lids perform nearly the same. Go for the one you like best.. ethier for cost or looks.

I prefer my Whisper Carbon Fiber.

Go SLP. The SLP seals too, you just need to apply the rubber seal. I did the cig test on mine and it is awesome. Plus, the SLP looks nicer, and has a direct plug in for an air hose, and if you don't have it, it has a sealed cup that takes it's place. Go SLP.

I prefer the Direct Flo. I think it is a little bit better design than the Whisper. I doubt it would make any more power but it is shaped as if it would(put the two lids side by side and compare). It is also CHEAP!!

I've read on this message board that some people had trouble with their lids and that it would allow bugs to enter. How can this problem be fixed if it will happen to me.

thanks

Thanks, so if I order the K&N filter (which should come with seal), will it properly fit any lid that I will purchase. Because some companies give you the package deal with the filter but if I were to buy them seperately (even from diff companies), it should fit right ?

I'm so sorry guys, one last question and I will leave this topic alone and order tomorrow morning. Sorry for dragging this out. I did some research through all of our sponsors and noticed that whisper, MTI, and G2 all require a breather filter for the 2002 models. However, the slp air lid never mentions it. I looked at all of our sponsors, and not a single one stated that one was required for the slp lid. If someone out there has an slp, did you have to use a breather filter for your slp ?

thank you very much
I am finished with questions
I appreciate all assistance

On the stock induction there is a hose that runs from the lid to the AIR pump. The other lids (non-SLP) do not have a provision to hook this hose up to it, so they provide a breather element to attach to the hose that goes to the AIR system.

The SLP lid has a hole in it for you to plug in the hose to the AIR pump, so that is why they do not provide the breather.

I have the SLP lid and it is OK. I have a Holley PowerShot filter and it fits into the lid perfect - it seals up just fine. The only problem I have with the SLP lid is on the back there is about a 1/16" gap between it and the lower air box...so basically unfiltered air can get in there and get into the intake. I took my lid off after about 2 weeks of having it and I noticed a piece of grass and a dandelion stuck onto the MAF screen. I took a piece of 3/8" foam weatherstripping and ran it across the back of the lid between the lower air box and lid. Since then (several months) Ive had no debris in my MAF screen.
Im not sure why exactly the lid does not seal 100%. From what I have read on here all the lids have some sort of minor problems....

You would think that the $100 the manufacturers are charging for a piece of plastic they would be able to make a lid that seals 100%...

Personally I would not go with the K&N cause I hear people talking about this additional rubber seal you need to put in to properly seal the K&N - I have no such problems with the Holley Powershot.

I would say go with whatever lid you like the best..but I would highly recommend the Holley filter over the K&N. Ive had K&N filters before for other cars and never had a problem with it - Im surprised that as many people complain about it as they do....I guess just for the F-bodys they are not engineered as well. But like I said I have not personally had experience with the K&N filter and the F-Body so I cant speak 100% for the quality of it. But I am very happy with the Holley filter.
