Will this work?

Will this work?
Tell me what you guys think about this. And if it works. Also I needs cats in NJ, and I likely won't be lowering my car, but I don't want to have any ground clearance problems at all, there are a few speed bumps, dips, etc around me. Also I will be putting on KBDD SFC's. I already have the corsa system.....I kind of like the hookers because they will save me a little money, but I thought I read somewhere about them not being compatible with cats or something, I don't remember
Hooker LT's with a custom Y going through a corsa exhaust
Grotts with a custom Y going through a corsa exhaust
Guys what kind of custom Y do you recommend, while searching our vendors, all I seem to see is a mufflex Y and random tech high flow "bullet" cats, and that looks like it is going to cost around $500, but would that be emissions legal???
This is all so confusioning....Damn decisions

It is illegal to remove a properly functioning catalytic converter. Putting cats on long tubes will mean you will have cats, yes, but they will probably be too far back to light off properly. You will also probably fail a visual inspection since the cats have been moved from thier original position.
Just because your car has cats does not mean that it is emissions legal. If your going to go the LT route then forget the cats. I have heard people on here say that the LS1 burns pretty clean that it can probably pass a tailpipe test without cats but I do not know how true this is. HTH

Re: Will this work?
I've heard of police officers popping under the car looking for kittens, I wouldn't want to fail a visual test....What do I do???
Can I still get hookers if I want cats, or do I have to go with FLP's or TTS's

Re: Will this work?
You could get shorty headers which would mean you could keep your current cats where they are, but from what I have read the gains are minimal with shorty headers and not really worth it. (But I dont know your financial situation you may not care about spending $700 for an extra 5-10 HP?). I think the 01-02 stock manifold is pretty much equivalent to shorty headers anyway.
You could gut your stock cats and run O2 sims but you wont see the gains that you will with LT headers... LT headers are for "off-road" use only. Welcome to the Police State.

The chances of getting a visual inspection are minumul, what they gonna do? give you a 25 dollar ticket and say "put the cats back on".

Yea, I think the fine in VA is like $70. I suppose if the cop is a real dick he might not let you drive it away he may make you tow it? but im not sure...(hey, whats the chances of the cop being a dick ). It depends on what your tolerance level is, I guess. I had the cats removed on my RX-7 for 6 years and I never got a visual inspection..this was in the roaring 80's...but I digress.
You could just put LT headers on and maybe make some fake cats. That would probably give you a good safety margin if you get pulled.
Maybe you might want to talk to some NJ people in your area to see if they have any advice thats more specific to your locale. Good luck on whatever you choose.

Re: Will this work?
This might be of some help Check out the Mac's Mid length headers with cats and y pipe towards the middle. You won't get the performance of LT's but it's an option for those of us who live in New Jersey (the police capitol) and want some street performance gains.
Throw a corsa on the back and you'll have a nice mild sounding exhaust that passes emissions (i think) with a nice performance increase and a throaty sound at high RPMs. Atleast this is the route I'd go if I had the cash atm heh
