Weird sound when I shut the car off...
Now, when I shut the car off, you can hear what sounds like air gurgling near the radiator cap. So, it sounds like there is some air in it, but, I let it run for a good while with the hose off so that all the air would be able to escape. It does seem to run a tad warmer now, but with the idiot gauge on there, it could just be a perception. What gives??
being forced out the coolant recovery
(when the coolant stops circulating, the
hottest parts of the engine temporarily
make some steam and elevate coolant
pressure, blowing off some coolant and/or
trapped air into the recovery tank).
In a properly purged system you wouldn't
hear anything, because pure liquid flow
is quiet.
If the system is closed then eventually
all of the air will be purged. If you have
a leak in the water jacket anywhere, then
air will keep on being pulled in. Just have
to let this go on for a while and see if it
quits, or not.
