Replace oil filler cap with breather.
I see on some guys LS1s that guys have replaced their oil filler cap with a breather that has what looks like an air filter on it. Is there any benifit to this or is it strictley for looks?

Its the end-all of oil in the intake due to the PCV system. Some ppl run catchcans w/ success. Some (like me) the can didn't cure the problem completely. I've been running a breather now for about a month. It'll declutter the engine alil bit and stop oil from gettin into the intake from the PCV. It'll reduce your oil consumption by alil bit ... but not completely since the PCV isn't the main source of oil consumption.

I took the oil filler off and got a 1 3/4 diameter K&N breather for 15 bucks from summit. Works fine and is cheap. My next order from summit ill get one for the drivers valve cover. i wanted to see how the 1 3/4" breather fit since it was about 1/16 too big but it tightened up just fine and is very snug.

I got mine from Year one, it screws into the oil filler cap and is really a nice piece.

Running a breather w/ the PCV on the car pretty much makes the PCV useless ... so no I don't think it'd help much. You might as well delete the PCV - it doesn't take long at all.
