Mine has been removed since 99. No problems.
Ron,
Materials Needed:
(1) 3" Band Clamp
(1) 1/2 or 3/4 Piece of heater hose ~2" long
(1) Flathead Screwdriver
Take the band clamp, open it all the way up, and run it through the heater hose. Wrap it around the Y-pipe wherever its hitting the floor pan. You may or may not have to pry the Y pipe down a little bit. Close it and tighten, and you're done
5,000 miles, no melting, looks just like the day I put it on there, and the bang's gone
I will crawl under there this weekend & ponder which one to utilize!
Thanks so much for your input!

You may see a crossbrace.... If this brace is still installed in your car, the pipe may be hitting it. If so, just remove the brace. You don't need it.

Forgot all about that brace Ron, good point about it hitting the brace. I'd have to disagree with you about removing it though, the best thing would be to get for longer bolts and put about 3/4" of flat washers at each bolt hole. That would lower the brace enough so it won't hit, here's something to think about, do you think GM would have put that brace on just for the hell of it. I've said this before, if GM could eliminate one washer on a car they would... that brace is a lot of washers. JMO
