From what I understood from your post I should apply weather striping in the tray but where exactly should I be putting it.

Where the filter ( bottom ) makes contact with the tray ( flat part ), make sure you go all the way around the tray so it will raise the filter evenly. I wish I could explain this better but I can't. Good luck.
OK, you will be buying the foam weather stripping with a adhesive backing from Lowes or any other place{heck WallMart even has it at times}. It's about a 1/4 inch to 3/8ths of a inch thick or so. Buy a couple of different thicknesses to play with. You will be putting it where the K@N gasket contacts the lid., just along the inner edge. Open it up and look at it-you will figure it out. When you get it on there are a couple of ways to test a air yight seal. First way is to take a cigarette {anything that smokes} and light it and run it along the lid to see if the smoke is sucked between the lid and base. Second-you can take a small thin tool{knife, piece of hard thin plastic whatever} to "feel" your way around. Also, you can put a little talcum powder on the lid's sealing surface and install the lid. Take it back off and inspect the sealing area. You are looking to make sure the gasket rubbed the powder from the lid when it compresses.

Thanks Judd! I also just installed an SLP lid, and it is lifted up in the back and I was worried it wasn't sealing and was looking for a good, safe way to check.I did the cigar test, and no smoke was pulled in, even while revving. Great Idea!
The round part of the lid(that goes to the MAF) is hitting on my lower airbox.Pewter_99Transam, lift up your lid and look, I bet there is a mark where the lid is hitting on the lower. Looks like the SLP lid is angled too much, or that part is too thick.
What did you do to get the angle right on your lid man?I am going to try the cigar test as soon as I buy some ewather striping.

I didn't do anything, just got lucky I geuss. I'll keep an eye on it in case the seal shrinks over time.(stupid question) did you put a new foam seal on when you changed lids?
