Default LS-6/EGR

I just bought an LS-6 Intake and i was under the impression that it had the egr provision built into it.I was told by an SDPC performance Salesman it was the right manifold when on the phone, but when I got it there wasn't an EGR provision. So I called up and they said there was nothing they could do. So my question is will it hurt the car or the performance of the car if I go ahead and install the intake with out deleting the egr? Can I just let the EGR sensor sit there.

the egr is an emissions device that helps gas mileage (or so i've been told) by building intake pressure at part throttle. but at full throttle it is not in operation.
if you decide to delete it you will throw a code then you with have to delete it. i say keep it by drilling your own egr hole in the manifold. otherwise you have no choice but to delete it.

Is there a write online somewhere that would tell me how to do this. Do I just drill a hole and slap it in? How do I make sure it seals right and how do I tighten it down?

How much of an effect will deleting the EGR system have on my MPG? What benefits will I gain from deleting?

I don't think EGR has any affect on gas mileage, and is installed to recirculate exhaust gasses back through the intake manifold for a more complete burn for emmisions reasons.

You can just remove the EGR valve from the car and install a block off plate on the header in it's place. You'll have a SES light by doing this, but it won't hurt anything. LS1Edit or a custom program can take care of the SES light.

No way would I try to drill my own hole in a new LS6 intake to retro-fit the EGR tube. That's a good way to end up with a $350 paperweight.

I have an LS6 intake on my '99. Agostino, who did the install, had it modified for EGR. They plastic welded on a fitting for it. Don't remember the extra cost but it was significant. I wish he had just eliminated the EGR seeing as how he has the shop version of LS1 edit and could have just turned the light off.

Couldnt the person doing the state inspection see that you deleted the egr. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

as for the mpg question i'm not sure someone told me it hurt gas mileage if you removed it because the pressure inside the intake manifold would be lowered and that more pressure in the intake helped gas mileage.i'm still tring to figure out if that guy is out of his mind. anyone have a before and after of gas mileage with and without egr. that would prove whether that idea is true or not.

if it do hurt mpgs to remove egr i can't believe it being a large difference maybe 1-2 miles a gallon? i'm not sure just relaying what i heard.

You could get a Lingenfelter egr adapter and retrofit your egr pipe that way, but it costs $100.00+ and all it is is a molded piece of plastic with a hole in it. The best option, IMO, is to remove the egr system and live with the SES light until you either get LS1 Edit or have a programmer remove the codes. You do have to consider emissions in your state, and if you know you can't pass without your egr then go the Lingenfelter route.
