Default EGR removal

I need help with the EGR removal on my 2000 SS.
Recently I removed the AIR and EGR system. I used simple metal block off plates to close the old holes. The problem is with the EGR connection at the intake manifold . The mount only uses one bolt and when I tighten it, the plate lifts up slightly on the opposite side. This allows for a hair line opening for air. Naturally, the PCM tries to adjust things and my idle RPM cycles between 400 and 2100 in 10 second intervals.
I use LS1_Edit so the sensors are disabled and there is no MIL (SES).
To keep the engine neat, I would like to still use a simple block off plate instead of cutting the old EGR tube. I do not plan to get the LS6 intake real soon-probably a year away. Until then, does anyopne have any suggestions/experience in this mod? Maybe a better block off plate is out there somewhere?
Thanks!

Amen,

High Temp 100% silicone gasket will fill small gaps. Allow it to cure for 24 hours and don't use too much as it can clog critical oil passages.

You could use a freeze plug or an expandable rubber plug instead of a block off plate.

JUST BLOCKED MINE OFF AS WELL. YOU NEED A
"1 3/8" FREEZE PLUG OR BETTER A RUBBER EXPANDABLE PLUG. $2.00 AT THE PARTS STORE. WORKS GREAT

The freeze plug worked great guys! Thanks. <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />
I got a 1 1/4" from AutoZone for $2.99. Car runs smooth and predictable now.

Now back to some more LS1_Editing!
