Which Exhaust ???
Planing on installing a borla 'y' but am unsure on the cat-back - alot of people here seem to say the loudmouths but what about the flowmaster and borla systems? The borla claims 16hp gains with a price tag of $620 while the flowmaster claims a 10-15hp gain at $340. What are the listed gains of the loudmouths?

NO! PLEASE do not Waste your $ on a Flowmaster, They SUCK! They are Horrible! Waste of $!
Borla is expensive but very nice, Hooker is good for the price, Loudmouth is exactly that LOUD!

Go with a Dynomouth, get the same flow as a Loudmouth, with a better sound, for less than 1/3 of the cost of a Loudmouth! Mine was $125 out the door... parts and labor!!
I agree if you want cheap, the dynomouth sounds suprisingly awesome. If money is no object, than its a toss up between the GMMG, Corsa, or Borla, and those are just a preference in sound. I have the GMMG because I think it sounds the best. i am not too keen on the way a borla sounds, but it is a sweet setup.
By the way, on my Z28 I have the Blowmaster 3 inch Catback with the single 3 inch exit on the left like 4" mufflex, save your money. It outflows the crossover AM Thunder version with the duals, yet I still pick up 2-3mph with a cutout. It doesn't even sound all that good. I would go with the hooker Catback for the money any day of the week.
You can get really good gains with a high flowing muffler instead of doing the whole cat-back thing. The problem with our cars is the POS factory muffler. The .25" larger pipe you get with cat-backs just really doesn't do anything for our cars until you have a serious set-up, like heads and cam...
I have a Dynomouth, it's basicly just a muffler mod, keeping the factory mandrel bent stainless pipes, and I dyno the same or better than the guys with the high dollar stuff.
It's all in the muffler. The Dynomouth's muffler flows 2200+ cfm. For comparison, the Flowmaster is around 360 cfm, the Magnaflow is about 1100 cfm, and the Borla is about 900 cfm.
Go with the sound you like.
Good luck

GET the y-pipe,But if you are looking the maxium Hp without headers. Since you have a 00+ you get the bassani ory-pipe and a cutout. OMG!! you feel the difference. The later get a magnflow, you drop aleast 3.5+tenths easy.
Thx for the feedback all!. My plan here is to keep internally stock with exterior mods - Ca smog lol but am considering a cut-out for the track. The car has the ram air cutout mod and a k&n filter otherwise stock.I took it to the track once - ran a 13.795@101.52 and a 13.872@103.93.
I have the Magnaflow. I will tell you that it has a very deep sound, it is almost as quiet as stock, but the sound is so low. I am pleased with it, but I would consider the Hooker system or the SLP dual/dual or 2OTL systems (2 on the left)if I were in the market again as I like the sound better.
I put the SLP LM on because i'm not going to replace the Y or get headers until I get it paid off.I think the LM sounds good with the stock manifolds and Y.The LM would be to loud with headers and Y.
I had to do something with the stock exhaust, when I attended cruise-nights I couldn't hear my own car.

I have the Borla "cat back" with the LG Motorsports y-pipe.
Had the Flowmaster with cut-out prior to this. Night & day my friend!
Simply no comparison! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

GMMG all the way - it is expensive but it is worth it. Best sounding cat back out there.
Of course its all about opinion and money. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Classic,
I've heard the GMMG w/stock manifolds/Y.It did sound very nice, but not loud enough for me.I imagine with headers and an aftermarket Y it would sound killer.Have you heard a GMMG with headers?

I have heard several GMMG cars in person, including the LS6 ZL1. That is what convinced me to get one. It sounds great, but not quite loud enough for me either. I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of my longtubes. The GMMG sounds absolutely BAD *** with headers, without being obnoxious like a cutout or the loudmouth.
