Default Z06 vs. LS1 Z28??

2001 Z28.......6 speed......could I outrun Z06 with the currect mods (in signiture)?

Then......am going to install stage 2 heads and a TR 224/224 cam (112 LSA).....what will that make me do compared to Z06?

finally question.......a guy I know gave me a ride in a Farrie 512 (I think thats what it was)....OMG!!! SO VERY COOL .....any idea how the top Farrie does compared to a Z06?

thanks

Chris

no offense but the zo6 would make short work of ya. More power, better tranny gearing, weighs less, and more aerodynamic.

Just curious...I may be overlooking it but do you have a blower or something?? Awfully large injectors for a nearly stock motor.

The 36s will go in after the head and cam.

CamaroGuy

A Z06, properly driven of course, will have you for brunch. It'll be a different story after your heads/cam setup. You could still get cracked though if you're not careful. Remember that the Z06 guys mod their cars too.

I'm reminded of Happy Gilmore here...

Shooter: "I eat pieces of **** like you for breakfast."

Happy: "You eat pieces of **** for breakfast?"

Shooter: "[akwardly] No."

Classic movie. Anyway, Z06's are by no means unbeatable. Good Luck!

I have a 99T/A,A4,N/A,H/C and beat a ZO6 at the track. The Vette was a M6 stock,I think, which probably had some to do with it, but a properly tuned H/C "F" body that's hooking can take a ZO6 Vette.

H/C cars with the bolt on's headers etc. would laugh at a stock ZO6 and then some as it should put down 400+ to the rear tires...You dont need new injectors just for the H/C swap, your stockers are fine!!!!

I beat up on an '01 Z06 at Gingerman (2 mile road course). Also smoked a Ferrari 360 Modena. In this case I am sure it was all driver as either of those cars should have been all over me had the driver had the same skill level.

I drove an '02 Z06 for a day last year (on the street only) and can tell you that the Z06 is waaaaaay faster! Really hard to believe these things have pushrods!

I was so impressed I have thought about using a LS6 cam or possibly LS6 cam and heads. Has anyone used stock LS6 parts on their LS1?

refering to the orginal question at hand after the H/C I say you can take a very slightly modded Z06, Stock I have seen some put down anywhere from 355-401RWHP. That kinda goes back on the fact that every car is different. Good luck with H/C & happy hunting

beat a z06 at the track.not sure what mods he has.one of those conversion convertable z06.still waiting to encounter one on the freeway.might have to use my other z-28 for that one since its a manual.

Thanks guys......looks like its a good thing I never went up against one with my bolt-ons, but once I get the H/C done...emmmm..Z06 for breakfast . Any idea how I would do against a Viper with the H/C?

It just gets to me how people (in general) think stock Vettes and Vipers are unbeatable (especially Z06s). Yet another reason I love my Z28......being able to go out and trounce the "I bought my Corvette yesterday....its the fastest thing around here" guys. I have killed enough C5s to know that REALLY pisses those guys off. "Damn it!!! I got beat by some KID if a Camaro!!!"
