where are you guys findin threaded rod. been to menards, home depot, lowes, ace and no one carries metric threaded rod. they dont even cary a bolt big enuff. home depot had a little stand that you could thread your bolt in or nut onto bolt. found the one that my new crank bolt screwed into, but they dont carry a damn bolt that big lol

Actually if you're going to make your own pulling tool you'll want to buy a section of threaded rod substantially LONGER than 120mm. 120mm is the nominal length of the overlength bolt most people use to push their new pulley ON not take the pulley OFF. You might try a hardware store that specializes in marine fasteners. Stainless steel and such. They would have a large selection of metric fasteners, but you don't need stainless for this.

No it does not need to be hardened.

You can also pick up a longer bolt and some washers from a hardware store, threaded rod is not needed.

The bolt pictured here is a *bit* too long actually. The bolt that would fall right between the stocker and the one pictured, in length, would probabaly work better. Try not to bottom the bolt out in the crank while you're sucking the pulley on with it.
