Default Back to back G-MAF dyno

Took my car to be dynoed today. Took the Hooker muffler off, and removed the air filter. First run was 328.3 rwhp, and 342.1 rwtq. My friend had a GMAF, so I decided to put it on and see if it would net anything. Let the car cool for 5 minutes, and did another pull. 328.4 rwhp, and 341.4 rwtq was the result. A gain of .1rwhp and a loss of .7rwtq. So essentially, the GMAF is not worth anything on my car alteast.

So do my numbers seem ok for my mods?

BTW, I will have the graph up soon that will show the runs, and it will also show the Air/Fuel through the wideband O2.

Nice #'s Alex
Did you dyno at auto specialties?

I see you have your car in the low 12's now.

I think you have to have the MASS AIR on the car for a few hundred miles so the computer can re learn the new mass.

Do you still have my old prostars?

Acutally I dynoed someplace in Noblesville (there was a group of us that went). Yeah, i'm still running your pro-stars, except I bought a set of matching skinnies for the front.

You definitely have to let the computer relearn the proper tuning when you change anything that affects the air-fuel ratio.

BTW, IF you DO need to let the car relearn... how do you explain that on this SAME day, a friend dynoed his bone stock 2001 SS... we added a Lid and a GMAF and gained 18rwhp? He gained horsepower, and his car had ZERO time to relearn.

That gain was all from the lid. I gained 17rwhp after my lid. Like Go FAST TA said, 'anything that changes the A/F RATIO needs to be relearned.' With the lid, you are simply allowing the engine to breath better. It is moving more air therefore it is making more power. The GMAF 'tells' the computer to change. It is not moving any additional air. It is a tune tool.
Also, I thought the GMAF just leaned the car out. Funny that it went more rich after the addition but computers are unpredictable anyway.

So Bigss how did you go 4% richer..with a maft??
Didn't see one in your sig..and what was the air fuel with 4% richer..you would think it would have been around 13 to 1 supposedly perfect..
and for the guy that said it went richer..no it went leaner..13.5 to 1 is higher than 12.7 to 1..
Interesting..hightech performance tested an slp maf and had to retest I think after awhile.Maybe after a bit the leaness would have gone away and you would have been at 13 to 1 with it???
I wish I had a wideband to make some experiments on my car.I have gms maf, direct flo lid, holley filter, ported tb,ls6 intake,b1 and tts headers with cats and maft.I have no wideband dyno near me though. If you make some more experiments let me know.Very curious to see where guys with long tube headers and gms maf or even stock mafs have their maft set for max power on the dyno.
