I've ran alot of headers on different cars. I was the 3rd person to get the Hooker LT's early this year, and they have no quality control issues. I love them, as do most. Any product will have a bad batch, don't slam Hooker. I thank them for finally giving us a LT header that didn't cost $1200. And doesn't bang or scrape. I do think Jet Hot will give them a run for their money, they sound good.

Quality issues? My Hookers are perfect. The only problem I had (driver side O2 location) was fixed in 2 minutes with a pair of tin snips, cutting a small square from the heatshield. It was a very good investment. I gained 24hp on my stock engine (back to back dynos). My car is lowered and the y-pipe has never banged, or scraped like SLP's do. That would be a major issue to me, and why I didn't get SLP's. Cause I researched first

I'm glad your Hookers were perfect as mine were not perfect nor even usable as is. TA_2001 is dead on about the Hookers quality issues.

https://ls1tech.com/ubb/ultimatebb.p...=004744#000004

I like the design of the Hookers better so the money isn't really the issue. However, the quality of the set of Hookers I got sucked!

Primaries needed slag ground down inside primary where joined to the flange.

Flange surfaces needed filing to make to smooth it out in a few places.

O2 bung welded in the wrong place. Have to grind out the metal because it's misaligned or the O2 sensor won't be in the exhaust stream. Well actually it's so badly aligned the O2 couldn't be screwed all the way in as 2/3 of the hole was covered.

1/4 inch gap that wasn't welded. Gap was so bad you could blow compressed air thru it!

Natually, all this repair work has ruined the coating in a few spots. If anyone is considering buying a set of Hookers, I suggest get the headers uncoated and clean this stuff up then send them back and get them coated.

Do yourself a favor if you want a header with a similar design to the Hooker and try the Jet Hot's instead as I don't think it's possible for the Jet Hot Headers to have worse quailty than the Hookers overall.

FYI, I posted in the sponsor section that we are now running a GP for our LS1 headers. Check it out. If you have any questions drop me a line or call me at 800-432-3379 x112.

I just received the FLP headers i purchased last week. Although they are very pricey ($1,100) the quality is outstanding. The weilds are perfect, the construction is rugid and the finish is perfect. Even the cats and coated y-pipe are first rate.

...will let you know more after they are installed....

...agree with everyone here that prices are comming down....now only if producers of stroker cranks would get the message...

I cant complain about my Hooker L/Ts. The placement of the O2s could be better but they went in flawlessly and the work like a charm. The price is what got me i can afford $1500 for headers, and I can put cats in later.FWIT

My issue with Hooker is a direct result of the product I was sent.

I would send them back but as mentioned earlier the problems were found just before my heads and cam install date. The headers have been repaired. The big issue to me was having to have 1/4 inch spot welded because Hooker missed it. I agree the design is good, that's the reason I got them in the first place.

I'm happy for you, that you got GOOD Hookers without issues. I have BAD Hookers with several quality issues.

Ok that's your call.

I like the design and think they will work well with my set up. However, I'm stating facts about my Hookers. I'm objective, just because I bought Hookers doesn't make the Hooker header, the best header or sacred in my mind. My set had problems. I don't like the quality of what I got.

However, going forward I'd get Jet-Hot's or FLP's, I would not buy Hookers LS1 headers again based on my experience with Hooker's product.

I intended for my comments about my Hookers to Encourage folks to give the Jet-Hot's a try.

I posted pics of these headers in the GP/Sponsor section that Todd was kind enough to send me. I also placed my split payment order & can't wait for my headers to arrive. I'm also glad to hear that they improved clearance after I ordered. So for the deal just gets better. Only way I see this deal getting better is if they came with Fel-Pro gaskets

A big thanks to Todd & all those that are trying to listen to the customer & build a product that will fit our needs!

As for the Hookers, I hear they are imported from Mexico. I'll spend my $$ on USA made products any chance I get when there is no major price difference.....

It was bent wrong on the passengers side. One part was also rotated a few degrees more than it should have been. My installer, had to cut apart the new $285 Mufflex Y pipe fix the problems and weld it back together. The person doing the install had extensive experience. He had built headers from scratch and fabricated Y pipe set ups for LS1 cars before etc.

However, since it's fixed most people are impressed by the way the Mufflex looks. Fixed it fit's very nice tucks in tight and doesn't rattle. My pipe may have been the exception.

In any case, if you can get in on a GP for the Mufflex for like $245 or so I'd think about it.
