I researched it once, and I'm not quite sure, but it's either 15 or 21 pounds. A substantial amount IMO.

I'm pretty sure it's right around 20lbs also. Enough to warrant a change especially if the tank will be down for a fuel pump.

Tom, I think I know what you're wanting to do because I was I was going to do the same thing; swap in a 98 tank and put a sump kit on the bottom right? I was thinking why can you just use the 99 tank; cut a hole for the sump kit; seal it real good and use rivets or something to attach it. Then you don't have to add the extra weight of the tank.

MTI installed a '98 tank and did a sump kit on my '00. I asked about the weight and they said after all the stuff they took out it was about a wash...maybe even lighter than my plastic tank. Hey, that's what they said.

Thanks

Tom, I wasn't there when they did this so I didn't see any of it. I assume they meant the ventilation, the intank pump, the fuel level sending unit, and the regulator. It wasn't something we discussed at great length. I just asked Mike how much weight he thought we added to the car by swapping over to the '98 tank and that's what he said.

hey i do know that the location of the pump is about 6 inches back further on the plastic tank. i just recently cut a hole in my floor to do a pump swap. i used a pic from a 98 car and found out the hard way that my pump was set back further. now i have an escape hatch if needed <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
