Default QTEC Cutout Questions??

I have a Corsa exhaust on my 01 camaro and I am going to purchase a Qtec electrical cutout. I just had a few questions.

The 3inch Qtec cutout will fit my I pipe on my corsa?

Where exactly does the wiring go through the floorboard?

If I were to place the cutout as far back as possible, under the rear passenger seats will the wiring reach my ashtray?

Does the switch come with the Qtec valve and cutout or is that another item I have to purchase?

It fits a 3" cuttout that fits your 3" I-pipe.

Through a hole of your choosing or making.

Yes, the wires are plenty long enough.

Yes, it comes with it.

The "hole of your choosing" ,if you have a M6, would be the shifter opening right above the tranny. Just go up through the rubber boot by making a 1/4" slit and from there route to the ash tray. Don't forget to rub some silicon where the wire comes through the shift boot to seal it.
Piece of cake install with the neato connections. Just take your time and secure everything.

check this site out: http://www.mccordcg.com/mpp/mpp.htm
from qtp, you get the coutout and the electric plate for like 160 something. but from mccord, you can get the electric plate for 100 bucks and you can find a cutout anywhere for about thirty bucks. just thought you might like to know. saves thirty bucks.

The Mccord is almost a proven POS, for the extra cash I would go with the QTEC, I have read numerous posts of Mccords falling apart, I even saw one that was used for a few days, it was barely holding itself together, basically it was just a $100 hole in this person's exhaust because it didn't open or close.

Though I don't own one yet, I know when the time comes I will definetly get a QTEC over a Mccord. My best friend has a QTEC, I have ridden in his car many times and many times I played with the switch (open close open close open close etc etc etc) and his is doing just fine. Its definetly a quality product. Also www.quicktimeperformance.com is a forum sponsor, if you want this web site to survive, we have to support the people who sponsor it

Get the QTEC. It works, and if doesn't, Barry doesn't mess around - he gets it fixed ASAP.

yes i agree that we should patronize our sponsors.i would have bought a quick time cutout but got a mccord from a friend that sold his firebird and never had it installed. i have had it on my camaro for over 2 months and it functions flawlessly..the wiring harness is first class and the valve opens and closes like a charm..i have read that mccord fixed the problems of his eary design . i must have the new model.

i just ordered the QTEC the other night. i talked to Barry for almost 30 min. he was very concerned that i had all of the information and made sure that i did not have any questions befor i ordered. i think that this kind of service is priceless. he made it easy for me to recommend the QTEC with confidence to anyone who askes about it. i can not wait until mine arrives next week. i will post how the install went and how i like it when it is in.

My QTEC should be here any day and I plan to bring the wires through the plug under the right rear seat, since it's only a couple inches from the cutout. Where's a good place to mount the switch on an A4? I was thinking next to the hatch release, but would like to hear suggestions.

Colonel,
I know you just installed one...where's your switch? (gotta go with this guy's opinion, ya know!?)

It's mounted where my ASR switch would be if my car had ASR. We trimmed out a piece of plastic from a wrecked car to mount the switch in the hole. Looks kinda factorylike. I've had more than person ask me if it came that way.

I may look into wireing it up using a factory GM switch like maybe a convertible top switch in the same hole. Then it truly would look factory.

Whoops... I've got ASR, so no room. The toggle on the switch is pretty huge, so is the switch body (at least 1.5") so it's next to the hatch release for me.

Save me a call to Barry...the directions don't state whether the QTEC is directional. I sure hope it ain't, cause it only will fit one way on mine. I've got a flat part of the cutout flange running nearly parallel with the ground, so if this thing doesn't work with the shaft side facing in...I need to pay for more welding

Guys
Thanks for the kind words

Either direction works. No difference. Which ever way it bolts up with out any clearance issues.

Thanks, Barry, I kinda figured that. BTW, what are some of your more popular switch locations for an A4 SS with no room on the center console?
