New catback rattling Hey guys, I just had my catback welded on a few weeks ago, and have lived with my new noise for awhile. It doesn't happen all the time, but the thing makes a metallic rallte noise...it's really embarrasing. i took a look under the car and noticed that there was some heat sheilding REALLY close to where the pipe goes over the axle. i was about to bend it (with a large hammer <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> ) but it seemed to be holding something up. Has anybody every experianced this? btw, this is the Hooker Catback...IT SOUNDS AWESOME...quiet at idle, but the moment you touch the gas, it comes to life. Much deeper than stock. But this unwanted noise has to go!!!!

Re: New catback rattling My hooker cat back squeaked and rattled like a s.o.b. I was under the car countless times tightening down the hangers, checking clearance, etc. It's a PITA but it's worth it. No moke rattles or squeaks from my exhaust now.
Re: New catback rattling Probably the heat shielding hitting the exhaust pipe, since it is new. After about 2 1/2 years my Hooker Muffler has a loose Baffle inside and makes a very similar noise. So if you can;t find anything touching the exhaust bang on the muffler. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

you may be screwed, but...
Loosen all of the exhaust connections and
hard hangers, and then put shims in between
the I-pipe and the gas tank heat shield,
the Panhard mount, and everything else that
comes within an inch of the pipe, shim as
much as you can to get max clearance, wiggle
the exhaust tips and kick the pipe a few times
to settle it in "max headroom space", and
then tighten everything back up.
