Borla: No plate vs. Capped off

Borla: No plate vs. Capped off Has anyone dynoed w/ their Borla wide open and then with it completely capped off sending it through the muffler? I think I remember seeing a dyno that showed the capped off Borla made more power, but I may be dreaming this up. I'm going to cap mine because the LT's and ORP is just too much for my ears.
BTW, I have the plate in w/ the smallest hole now and that doesn't really turn the sound down at all.
While I'm at it, does anyone know what the plates are made of? I'll have to weld one of mine shut since I don't have the biggest one.

Re: Borla: No plate vs. Capped off i just bought a QTEC. it's great. it's nice flipping a switch to change the size. it's nice going wide open at lights to scare civics and then closing it on the highway (as a fellow borla user, you know the drone). as far as numbers go, i don't have any yet. but i do believe i read something last march-ish about someone who dynoed most of the plates and found that one of the larger plates dynoed the best (maybe the 3/4 plate). i think he said the results were negligible to the sound from "wide open." that post is probably floating around somewhere. it might have been over on the other page. hope that helps. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: Borla: No plate vs. Capped off Don't worry, your car will be fine with the full block-off plate in there. The difference will be very slight if any at all with your current set-up and you won't really "feel" it anyway. Obviously, the more power your car makes, the better it'll flow with no plate. Just run it closed around town(so it actually sounds good) and run it wide-open at the track.

I would guess that as the rest of the system is made of SS, the plates would be as well?

Re: Borla: No plate vs. Capped off i remember the post about the plate dynos. there was a dyno chart too. the curves looked identical and all the plates were within 3-4rwhp of each other but the big plate (the one before wide open) made the most power not the wide open one.
btw, what borla drone? the only time i would call it droning was when i was doing about 90 down to the beach and thats because i was doing about 3200rpm.
