Ls1 Tune-up questions Does anyone have a list or possibly even a site that goes into detail about performing a Tune-up on our cars? I think my car will be due for one in the summer. Just looking for a break down on everything that i should do! Any info at all would be great!
Re: Ls1 Tune-up questions First it's a pain in the ***. You should change the fuel filter, plugs and wires, oil change. If it hasnt been done depending on how many miles you have on your car you should change the trans fluid and filter. They usually recommend doing thatt after 36,000 miles or so.I f you do it yourself good luck on the plugs.

Re: Ls1 Tune-up questions ive already changed my plugs. It was a pain in the ars, but prob easier for me than most people. (I have very tiny hands) Ive done everything mentioned except the Trans Filter. I dont think I have to do that quite yet. Is there anything here that blown346 missed?

I plan on doing these 3 things in the near future, along with changing the tranny fluid mentioned above.
Maybe also some GM top end cleaner to clear out the fuel system.

Re: Ls1 Tune-up questions SO far ive done all of these. My Daytona is about to hit the 20k mark. But im also concerned about things i should change just because they get old.. For example my purple 98 doesnt even have 8k on it, but im sure there are things that i need to change which ive already done. Im just trying to make sure im not forgetting anything.

Re: Ls1 Tune-up questions The first time I did plugs, I followed the directions exactly as installuniveristy.com recommeded, and it took about 1 hour. Don't be intimidated by all the 8 hour plug change horror stories.
The key is getting the coil packs out of the way. You can do all 8 from the top with no problems.

Re: Ls1 Tune-up questions When changing the tranny filter and fluid, DO NOT SCRAPE OFF THE TRANNY PAN GASKET!!!!! It is reuseable. Trust me, I'm learning that the hard way. P.S. don't use silicone either, tranny fluid leaks thru it. What a f***ing mess!
