Default TB...Yea or Nay...Would I benefit???

See my sig for mods. I have been hearing alot about the S2 TBs on an internally stock motor. Is it worth while for me to do this...without heads, a cam, or headers?? Up until this point, I didn't think so. But they seem to be real popular, especially on other boards.

I would appreciate your opinion!

Thanks!!

Between porting/filling, bump-stop
cutting and cable adjusting, my car
really woke the hell up. You can buy
or you can work for it, up to you.
But it's one of the better things to
do (probably right behind a lid) of
the things I've tried.

Other than just installing it, what would I have to do if I bought a TB already ported like a Shaner or Bauer. Would I have to adjust the cable or the bumpstop? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

The pros all do the bump stop as far as
I've seen. Most of 'em throw in polishing
and/or powder-coating. Personally, I
prefer it to be a surprise.

Everybody should adjust their throttle
cables at least once. You can adjust two
of them in (TCS + cruise) cars easily...
but the one that matters isn't adjustable
(on (TCS + cruise) cars anyway). That's
the gas pedal cable. Mine had so much
slack that the throttle stop tang never
got close to the stop. I put a 3/4" length
of 1/8" vacuum hose, slit lengthwise, around
my cable where its ball end sits into the
little plastic cup, and sleeved it with some
heat shrink tubing (3/8" unshrunk) that just
slid over the ball end. This took out the
slack.

Basically, push the pedal to the floor and
prop it, weight it, or buddy it there and
go see how open your throttle really is.
Then, do whatever needs to be done.

i wouldnt do it unless you are thinking of a cam. I think you might see 3 rwhp or so on a stock engine.

The TB is a good mod , but is more effective if you have cam or even better H/C. I would do a cold air kit first. Well worth the $$$$$. I love my Shaner S2. That's my .02
