how much power loss with flowmaster...
how much power loss with flowmaster... how much power do you think im losing with a flowmaster muffler? i have 3 inch pipe with flowmaster. i have full boltons - ported throttle body (whats that costing me about 5?) i have a 224 112 cam with gears and stall. also i think my tune might not be that great. how much power all together also do you think im losing? what muffler would you reccomend? thank you much

nobody knows exactly how much youll lose. but everybody pretty much can tell you to stay away from flowmaster. go with a better catback like corsa, hooker, magnaflow, loudmouth, gmmg..
thats wierd how all the mustang guys love flows but f-bod guys say you will lose power with it. i dont get it
maybe it has to do with the design of their single inlet, dual outlet muffler for the f-bods.

flowmasters on a 5.0 mustang sound awesome. however, my cousin just bought an '02 GT and it has flows on it and it sounds...yuck. it is soooo raspy, it sounds like popcorn popping and it sounds like it's backfiring (even though it's not, it's just crazy rasp). i'm trying to convince him to get a mac catback or something else as mac seems to sound good on a mustang.

It makes a bit less then many of the other catbacks but the claims keep growing that it loses power etc.
Also it really doesn't sound that good on ls1s.
I had just a muffler stock piping etc on mine it wasn't bad. Nothing good though no change in power while i've seen hooker areo chamber mufflers to show gains with stock piping and reported sotp gain as well.
I've seen the dynos and they are on here of flowmasters making less but losses etc I've yet to see one.

so between a bad tune and flowmaster i could be losing 15-25 or so? what kind of muffler is best. i dont want to buy a whole exhasut just a muffler cause like i said i already have 3in pipe. i dont want something that is real quiet either, i heard hooker was quiet, but i do have lts. thanks

between what you have yes I'd venture thats a good guess in power you could make. Most will be gains under the curve, where it really matters though.

I have a flowmaster. I have no complaints. Love the sound with Lt's and ORY. If what they say is true, that Im losing 15RWHP, then I guess I should be at 355 with some other system. I didnt think that 340 RWHP was bad with just bolt ons. Oh well. Just my .02
i also have a flowmaster. bought it on the car. i like the sound and if it comes down to a power thing for 40 bucks i'd buy a cut out like NHRAMAN. but to follow that up if i hadmy choice i would go with something that flowed better and was stainless.
