Yeah, I hear what you're saying. Right now, I have hand-ported MAC 3/4-length headers into MAC Y-pipe with metal-core Random Tech CATS welded into it ... into custom-made X-pipe, then, dumped with 18" DynoMax straight-thru bullets and turn-downs.

Like I was saying, it's my 4th go-around at exhaust and I want to buy Long Tubes and a tru dual setup out the back ... complete setup all fits together. Just tired of trying out and changing headers and going to a welder and still not getting it right. Thanks for the replies and still I'm still looking for the 'right' answer if there is one. It seems these cars are really hard to accomodate with a tru dual setup.

We have done several Bassani tru-duals with Mac Headers. I probably have some photos somewhere. We can set you up with the Bassani system into the Macs. Joe

I'd post up pictures, but, my car is a pretty serious street setup and you would laugh if you saw pictures of the fabrication job on this tru dual setup that a local welder did for me. His intent was good, so,I didn't say anything to him when I saw it. I just paid him and drove away ... told it looked pretty good. It cost me $200 for his time, materials, and work (6 hours). Since $200 isn't a major back-breaker, I just let it go and drove away with him thinking it was the best thing since buttered light-bread. He was happy.

if you ever want to see the system on either of my cars and hear them, let me know.

i missed the question mark on the end of your original reply. but, to answer your question, you'd have to ask whoever welded it. my guess, was from using a stick welder and not a wire feed.

I like it a LOT!

mrr23 > can't thank you enough for the pics and your offer to hear/look at it. I can already tell it sounds/looks great without seeing it. I have some Random Tech metal-core CATS which I may see if they can cut out of my current setup and weld into the Bassani dual setup. Was wondering what kind of mufflers you have on yours ... and is it 2 1/2" tubing? 2 1/2" would be about right for my car. ... tucks up perfectly.

Joe Vinci and I have exchanged a couple of PM's and he's committed to supplying me with a quote, so, it looks like I'll be getting it done right, finally ... appreciate all the information flow and help.

the muffler is the one supplied with the bassani tru-dual system. it's a 2.5" dual system. no need for aftermarket panhard brace to clear the rear suspension.

joe and i were talking about this thread yesterday when i went by their shop.

Thanks for the info ... thinking about not using the CATS at all. The main reason I use them now is the car was so loud with TD's, I thought maybe I would get pulled over and no CATS means violation. Just was too loud with the dumps and 18" DynoMax straight-thru's. Think I can get away with just the Bassani muffler and no CATS ... speaking from a noise perspective? I'll go to LS1SOUNDS.com and see if there's a Bassani clip or two there, without CATS.

Maybe I'll meet you someday at the track or around one of the local shops. Take care man!

... Jack

when i first put the bassani on the wife's car, it had no cats. it made the borla i replaced it with, unbearable for long hauls. the bassani toned it down alot, but still had some 'bite' to it as darrell bassani put it when he heard it two years ago. so, he sent me some of his metallicats to put on it to get rid of the 'bite'. it's really nice now inside and out. here's some clips of the wife's car back when it had no cats the day i installed it.

... looks like I prob will keep the cats. They're only 8" bullets, but, they'll cost me some power. The Bassani looks like a lot of weight in metal compared to the Duals I have now. The quieter sound is going to win out this time, I guess.

Between the extra weight and the and keeping CATS ... it's gonna' cost me about 8-10 HP. What are your thoughts? Appreciate the clips guys. They all sound great for those setups ... nice cars.

the box the bassani came in said 80lbs. how much more is that going to be over what you have now? 30 lbs?? that'll cost you about .03 in the 1/4.

for the difference in ET over stock exhaust with a 3" cutout, i'll take it. this was back when i first put the system on the black car.
cutout -------- bassani
12.191 -------- 11.814
118.20 -------- 121.35

80lbs isn't much. Is that for the stainless steel Bassani duals? My old Borla adjustable catback weighed that much. I guess I can take off the strut tower brace and the sub-frames if I lose too much time. They don't serve much purpose, anyway ... though the subframes do make a great jacking rail.
