Default Motor mounts = pain in the butt IF

No I didn't listen to my friends when they said "you should really do the motor mounts when you do your headers" Bad move on my part.

I did the passenger motor mount a few months ago and it helped with some banging issues. Since I had a holiday (last weekend) I decided to take some time and do the drivers side. How long did it take me? Don't ask I am too ashamed to tell.

BUT what a wonderful difference it has made!! Less in-car vibration and no more chattering from the Spec Stg3 clutch!! Why didn't I do this earlier = ignorance.

Please learn from my mistake and do the freakin motor mounts when you do headers. Now I love my car even more. Next up : torque arm.

Thanks Tom (Squirrelmaster) for lending a hand. You're a good man.

Brian

Yeah, I still have to do the passenger side. I did the driver side in about five hours......and every single one of them sucked.

Now I don't feel so bad about it taking me 5 hrs on my driver side.
I hear the passenger side is easier, is this true.

DAMNIT!!!! I was in the same boat as you when I did my headers. I was just too lazy at the time. How much of a PITA is it after headers have been installed?

Did mine when I did the headers and it was still a pain in the ***. The tranny jack really helped though.

I try to tell them...................

I think Thunder Racing needs to send me about a $500 check because I KNOW I've told about 10,000 people to do poly motor mounts, and that's the only place I could think of that sells them.

BTW - Do a poly trans mount and your shifter will be dead still as well if you have an M6. It really helped my wheel hop problems also.

Dang Brian sounds like a rough time with awesome results. Maybe I should get these mounts sometime. Would it be easier to just unbolt a header when installing a particular side? Or is it still going to be in the way?

Luna told me he'd rather pull the headers out and do them than do them again with the headers installed.

This alone has convinced me to do poly mounts when I do my headers.

the best time I found to change them is during a k member switch, if fact I did this before I even did headers, just for the room, the k member was well worth it.

Took me about 5 hours for the driver's side and 3 for the passenger. I had to remove the alternator, steering shaft, and starter to do it, but it was well worth the trouble. No more exhaust banging the floorboard!

The results are incredible. You should definitely do them but do them both at the same time so you can lift the engine up higher than I was able to. I think that part of my problem. The hardest part for me was getting the four bolts back into the block. They just wouldn't line up. I had 3 out of 4 bolts in but the last one was just a little off...I was sooo pissed. I considered taking the mount back out to just drill the holes in the mount a little bigger to give me more leeway (sp?).

Also you want to have some Craftsman ratcheting wrenches at your disposal

I had the drivers side header completely unbolted and turned as far towards the fender as possible to gain more room to work. I would have just pulled it out completely if the Y-pipe was not so stubborn. There really is almost no room to work with the headers there and still bolted to the heads.

The passengers side is not nearly as bad though.

Thanks Brian, I know I'm a good man .

And we definately need to thank my ratcheting wrenches, we'd have been screwed without them .

Oh, and you certainly impressed my brother with the joy ride, and you definately pissed off my neighbors with your exhaust .
