PORTED MAF END TEST ON A4 RESULTS

Default PORTED MAF END TEST ON A4 RESULTS

IVE BEEN BORROWING A FRIENDS A-TAP FOR A WHILE TRYING TO FIX 4DEGREES OF KNOCK I HAD. IT TURNED OUT TO BE PINCHED KNOCK SENSOR WIRE AND BAD FRONTKNOCK SENSOR. ANY WAY ON A-TAP IN PERFORMANCE SECTION I MEASURED HP AT WOT AND IT WAS AROUND 400HP. PORTED SOME SPARE ENDS, PUT THEM ON AND BEST I COULD PULL WAS 330 TO 340. THIS WAS AFTER 50 MILES OF PCM ADJUSTMENT TIME. I STILL HAD 28 DEGREES TIMING AND NO KNOCK. AFTER THIS PASS CAME HOME PUT OTHER ENDS ON WENT BACK MADE A PASS AND HP WAS BACK TO 400. I KNOW THIS MIGHT NOT BE THE MOST RELIABLE TEST,BUT IT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME. JUST THOUGHT SOMEONE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW. <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

How did you determine it was the sensor and wire?

I've got A-tap and I've never found it informative enough to tell why it was having knock.

With the ported MAF Ends, did you adjust A/F Ratio before you made the Dyno Pass? Usually that mod leans out the A/F.

I picked up almost 10 rear wheel horsepower with ported ends on my stock internal 2000 Z28. Different year models respond differently. I've yet to see a stock internal 2000, stock computered not respond positively to ported ends. If you have custom programing already the tuner should have already optimized your A/F ratio and timing so there is no need for the maf ends. Do you have MTI tuning to go with that cam?

Why not test this sort of stuff where it will give conclusive results, i.e., the track?

Also, you should ease up on the caps lock. It is interpreted as you yelling!

I tested my whisper ends a long time ago

stock my timing was 26 and my 02's where in the .91-.94 range

with whisper ends my timing was 28 and my 02's read .87-.88

leaner car makes more HP which was why they helped me on my stock internal car. Now with a cam and etc they will really wack your car out unless you get them tuned <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

i gave up on the ported ends and just got a calibrated SLP 85mm and my atap numbers look great

also you cant read HP with atap.. i have that option on mine but with a light rev i push 2700hp at 3krpms <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I must really have a freak car <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

car was already tuned. just trying to sqeeze a little more. hp is wacky when you rev it in neutral but at wot its pretty stable. car also didnt feel as strong. i wish i could havegained something but on my car i dont.

well its calibrated for a LS1 car... they make one for 98-00 models and one for 01-02models so there must be a difference in calibration there.

Mine was anywhere from 1 to +5 or so average on the LTRIMS, but i havent gotten alot of learning miles yet. I edited my MAF buy 104% though to bring them to the rich side or close

u dont need tuning, but its gonna need some probably to get it perfect
