Default Quiet down damn it !

Well, I was just trying to get some suggestions for bringing the tone of my car down. 243/249 110 LSA. LTs, True duals with 3" x pipe, 2x12 inch bullets, dumped right before the axle. I mean... that sounds great and mean, but I drove for about only 7 miles and I got stuck in the traffic, with 4400 stall and 4.10s and such big cam its not a pretty site. When I got home later on, my neighbors were looking at me like I just got back from a freaking war in not a car but some ... killing machine. I will get some vidoes soon, you see what im taking about. So I want to quiet it down a bit, without getting rid of that exhaust. If its possible, if not.. oh well...

Same here I can just imagine what it sounds like, do you have any new times for the car?

What about running your exhaust all the way out the back.

If I will run that exhaust to the back...
1) It wont be good for that size cam, that thing needs to breath
2) I would have to get rid of the bullets = no more mean sound
I guess I will just leave it alone...

Any of You drives with car like this on the street ?

Sell the duals and build a setup like mine

Ive got a dual 3" in/single 4" out flowmaster merge collector on my y-pipe, into a 4" dynomax bullet, necking down to a 3.5" electric cutout, then reduced to a 3" pipe over the axle into a dynomax super turbo muffler with dual outs and tips.

It sounds alot like true duals open, a little deeper and not quite as defined. With it shut it sounds very tame, very similar to a stock muffler volume with a nicer tone. It doesn't resonate inside at all. Its definitely the best of both worlds.

The whole setup cost me about $500 installed.

I have a F14 232/234 .598/.598 112, Hooker LTs to custom X pipe, 17" flow-pro twisties and dumped before the axle.

It is really loud but not insane loud. I have a M6 though so I can keep the RPMs down if I want even with my 4.10s... if I get on it and get past a few grand it is SCREAMING loud, but sounds oh so damn good. I'm guessing yours is so much worse because of the stall?

1) It would be fine for that sized cam, I have dual 3" all the way to my tips (even 3" ID tips). Another 3' of 3" pipe is not going to hurt you at all. I'd be willing to bet that 2.5" after the bullets would not cause any power loss either.

2) I still have bullets.

Yes is screams loud, because of the stall 4400 2.5STR, so i keep it at 3000 rpm which is loud as hell! and it takes a bit for the car to get to the speed at which the converter locks.

That sounds like a great idea. I think its the only way to keep similar sounds on the street and still be able to open the exhaust at the track.

Thanks!

RM99Z has a good point, it'll still sound mean but you can open the cutout and make it nasty if you want

Try some dynomax ultraflow mufflers. Straight through like the bullets, but a full muffler, and significantly quieter.

With no cats, true duals, long tubes, and that cam, it's still gonna sound mean.

What it really sounds like you need is a quiet exhaust system (full exhaust to the back with full mufflers) AND set of electronic cutouts.

It'll be not ridiculously loud with the full exhaust..... (neighbors will be more happy)

Then loud as hell with the cutouts open whenever you want.

It wont keep your current exaust but if it were me I would run a catted y pipe and something like and slp dual dual catback and just run dual electric cutouts in front of the cats

Thats a better idea if you're forced to run cats. We don't have inspections here anymore so I don't have cats on the car. You could try and find someone with a stock catback that's wanting duals and trade them your setup + cash and that'd help pay for the dual electric cutouts before the cats

[QUOTE=CRZYPWR]I will get some vidoes soon, you see what im taking about. [QUOTE]

The video will not do any justice of the volume. My exhaust is loud and I made a video and it sounds quieter than stock in the vid, check the link in my sig.
