white tip spark plugs?

white tip spark plugs? We were doing a LT header install, and when we pulled the plugs the tips where white. This was only on the drivers side, the passagner side was fine.
What does that mean if anything?

Re: white tip spark plugs? Your running lean. If memory serves me right, white is lean, and black is rich. If its just on the drivers side, check the injector that corresponds with that particular plug.
Re: white tip spark plugs? its nothing wrong with them being a little whitesh.... mine were white when I took them out but I thought that was normal...
you dont want them to black because then you are pig rich <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
but the other side should be the same though. You may have a bad 02 sensor. When my 02 one the drivers side went those plugs got very black and fouled on that side

Best thing to do is AutoTap/LS1 Edit. and see why it's running lean on one side. No matter what your Mods, you want to run the same Air/Fuel Mixture on all cylinders. A 'visual' plug reading is not always accurate. You may have before or after Cat issues if your running them.

Re: white tip spark plugs? I've spent quite a bit of time working on airplanes. The plugs were of really high importance on airplanes... a typical 4 banger plane engine had 8 plugs. When we changed them we primarily looked at the shape of the electrodes if the plugs weren't really wet/black. As long as they don't look charred and the ceramic is fine on them, don't worry. Just make sure the electrodes aren't wearing properly. The other guys are absolutely right though, you're running more lean on that side. All the plugs should wear evenly. Check your O2 sensors, etc etc and ya should come to the root of the problem. It's beer time!

heavy crystalline / grainy white deposit
can be coolant. If one, or two adjacent
plugs are unusually crusted up this can
be a sign of a head gasket coolant leak
or a cracked head. If you see something
like the latter description then do some
more looking for confirming cooling system
symptoms.

Re: white tip spark plugs? Reading spark plugs is a science. Some guys make big bucks doing this at dragstrips. You should get yourself a graphic chart to compare your plugs with if your not an expert. The perfect plug ceramic looks like one of those marshmallows you lightly toasted over the campfire when you were a kid. Light brown, not white or black.
