Default Trans tunnel brace

Trans tunnel brace (the piece that runs parallel to the driveshaft) Do I need to keep this in there? What is the purpose of this thing? The reason I ask is because my TSP ory hits it sometimes, and I even had the exhaust adjusted.

Mine would have to get through the x-pipe before that happened. You can replace it with a driveshaft saftey loop of some sort. Lakewood make a very low profile one that is cheap and works great. Most tracks require you to have one anyway.

Thanks for the clarification, I think I will take it out to give the exhaust more room.

The only thing running parallel to the driveshaft is the TORQUE ARM and I would venture to say that you need that!

Ok, maybe we are talking about two different things. From what you guys are saying, the piece that I am talking about it the torue arm. I think I may have described the trans tunnel brace(the piece that is connected to the left and right side of the body, underneath of the trans). I guess the exhaust is bumping up against the torque arm, how do I go about fixing this?

The exhaust is on the opposite side of the driveshaft than the torque arm. Where on the torque arm is it hitting?

Are you sure you know the difference between parallel and perpendicular ? I'm pretty sure you are still talking about the tunnel brace, I doubt you're exhaust is hitting the torque arm....

Best thing would be to take some pics of what's going on. I highly doubt the exhaust is hitting the TQ arm, but anything is possible.
