It's interesting that the carsounds flowed similar numbers but the stock manifolds were significantly different. Installuniversity modified the stock cats by enlarging the opening/exit to 2.5".
Installuni suggests that the stock cats are only good to 258.1hp (flywheel), while the carsound cats are good to 363fwhp (by Barry's numbers) and 397fwhp (by installuni's numbers).

with the Random bullet cats, that bolted
into place on standard cars replacing the
stock units, would maybe be a decent
little seller in the California market
(if you can really get 15-20HP out of the
pair, and let people stay smog legal,
that's an angle). Get that together with
a pair of port-matched late model exhaust
manifolds, this looks to me like the gains
people get from the whole long-tube install
without the hassles (mechanical and legal).

Also, you'll never get the gains or even similar gains to longtubes/mid lenghts without actually having them. Longtubes dont just flow well, they actually "pull" fresh air into the cylinder...one thing a manifold can never do.

The metallic Randoms flowed great but for 3-4 times the price of the car sound its not worth it. And the Carsound is less than half the price of the regular Randoms and out flowed it by over 20%

I have those installed with my true duals Glad to know that is money well spent.
