dropping the motor with out a lift???

Default dropping the motor with out a lift???

anybody want to share on how they dropped their motor from underneath without a lift? or if anyone knows where to find step by step instructions on dropping the motor without a lift, id appreciate it.

Pull it from the top. You can use an engine hoist (cherry picker) and lift the nose of the car with that.

Wow Dave that has got to be a bitch with how far back the engine sits. Have you actually pulled one from the top before? Just curious as I was looking at mine the other day and it looks brutal to get from the top.

I pulled mine from the top w/ jackstands...I took the trans out first tho.

Took me a few hours, wasnt bad at all. Much easier than my 4wd Toyota truck

You need to take the nose off to get the cherry picker close enough.

Luckily we had a friend that has done litterly dozens of motor swaps on F-bodies and vette's to help out.

cant pull it from the top. turbo manifolds wont allow that. and the time it would take to remove the manifolds i could have it out from the bottom.

also it can be done with a long block (heads still on)?

Iv used a forlift to lift the front of the car up over the engine.

what would you mount the chains to on a long block, heads attached. im trying to figure out how im going to put my new motor in trans is still in the car but my motors sits fully assembled. when i pulled it out there were no heads so i put the chains to the head bolts.. where do i now?
