Oops, I should have proof read my post. I meant "same playing field" and of course "intake".

Yeah, I was about to place my order for a 88894339 also, but now want to see if this is the good flowing manifold or not. Anyone know for sure?

Keep this post on the top, I want to know also. I'd interested in getting one if someone can get the part # and where to pick one up.

Well, I guess it is good that I have the intake from my 02 LS1 on my LS6 - I'm actually one up on the Z06's!

Yes mine has the brass inserts for the throttle cable bracket. But what does this mean? Is there in fact two different intakes? If so which ones is the better of the two and what part number is it?

Aftica,
Go ahead and get the standard LS6 intake part no.88894339, because that is the only one they sell as far as I know. Even if the f-body version of the LS6 intake exists, you would have to try to buy one off of someone and they have no reason to sell it.
BLK02WS6,
I wouldn't bet on that, I haven't seen anything conclusive yet. This is nothing more than a urban legend at this point. I want someone to show me a flow chart and provide part numbers for each intake used. I haven't seen that yet.

Just received my intake part # 88894339.The casting # on it is 12573572 which is just one number off from the ZO6 casting # that JPR referred to. I'm still curious about the flow #'s for this intake compared to the two others JPR did the flow tests on.

did you read the thread all 01+ fbodies have an ls6 intake. and yes stock TB is 75mm. a shaner/bauer ect ported TB will be fine with an ls6 intake, i believe a 78mm TB will fit without porting also.

you guys are funny, i have known the difference between the LS1 and the 01+ f car intake, and the little bit of flow difference for at least a year.

It has been discussed, not in depth, but talked about on this site, and the .com site.

either way, both are good, and a improvement over stock ls1 intakes.

From SDPC2000.com:

LS1 / LS6 2001 Z06 Intake Manifold
Price: $399.50
Part # 88894339
This is the intake manifold used on the Z06 Corvette and all 2001 LS1 engines. It has an increased plenum volume for increased airflow. Because of the bigger plenum you will need a new air bleed pipe (12568478) and 2 plugs (12563325) to convert a '97-'00 LS1 with this manifold.
Old part number: 88890523

Admittedly, shipping is expensive at GMParts. The total with shipping is $401.69 to be exact. I have no idea how this stacks up with their competitors, though. My comment is meant as an alternative to 69vette03 who paid $450 (plus shipping?), and those who might buy at similar cost. In this case, that's a savings of 11+%.
I gladly pay my investment guy $5000 to make a bundle for me. Who cares how much the fee is when you're coming out ahead, even for a measly
11+%? Glenn

depends on the parts. i saved like 20 bucks getting my 01+ master and slave and pilot bearing shipped then it would of been at SDPC, pace parts, or fred beans. you just have to order alot of **** to make gmparts worth it. for little things i usually go with SDPC or paceparts.

The intake orginally used on the Z06 and later in 2001 and up was used on all C5s.

You can tell which one you have because the older LS1 intake's part# is on passenger side where the Z06 type is on the drivers side.
