I am curious....what kind of cats are you using and how much rasp do you have? I beleive that cats are suppose to kill most of the rasp?

I am using High Flow SLP cats to go along with the SLP headers.

Borla makes a resonator type to put in place of the loudmouth? or did you mean add one to this system in the rear?

If I add in the rear, it would only be for the driver side since the passenger exit tube comes straight out.

Thanks

Vin

Check out the link. Its a 5" round borla muffler that replaces the resonator so nothing else changes on the exhaust like the tailpipes.

Is the borla muffler the XR-1?

If it is just a little rasp and a small amount of noise reduction you want, a dynomax 3" race bullet will do the trick and not hurt power. Its only $50 or less. The 18" (24" overall) probably will fit where the resonator is.

For more sound control the Borla XR-1s or non-race straight through round mufflers will do the job.

If you're going to do the dynomax in place of the resonator thing... don't get your hopes up, it only helps a little. I got so tired of the NASCAR sound that I went true dual... LOUDMOUTH SUCKS WITH HEADERS!!!!

Default Loudmouth Disaster - RASP

Fella's,

I have SLP Lt's, High Flow cats and installed the Loudmouth. I bought the loudmouth a long time ago, at that time I wasn't considering headers. I HATE the rasp and the sound.

this started becasue I had a bent PR and then I decided last minute to put in a new TR224 @ 112 cam along with Headers....

I had to have some custom welds and brackets to make the exhaust fit correctly so I'm too far into this loudmouth, I don't want to "Punt" and get a new exhaust, I'm hoping to fix it by installing some other mufflers in the system....

By the way, the SLP headers hang pretty low and the cats come off at a slight negative angle. Just FYI for anyone thinking of getting them.

Any suggestions on how to rid the RASP and still use the existinig pipes which are welded-in?

Thanks
VinMan

You might want to weld in a borla muffler. There is a sound clip available.

I'm going to try a Bullett in place of the current resonator.

Just FYI... I don't hate the sound as much as I did the other day, but I still don't like it.

After the installation I'll post a new sound response and let you guys know how it sounds.

Thanks for the help.

VinMan Out....
