Default Sound Difference in LT's???

Since I have the Hooker Cat-Back...I am now going for LT's and Y-Pipe now. Everyone seems to get the Pacesetter LT's.

I was wondering as far as sound goes....does it make a difference in LT's?

Should I stay with matching names and go Hooker? or go Pacesetter?

Thanks,

LT's make a huge difference sound wise. As weird as it may sound, the LT's made my car sound cleaner and much better. Aside from the performance gain you'll get, you'll love the sound.

Lt brand to LT brand is no significant affect.

IMO get Pacesetters over Hooker LT's. They are cheaper and just as good in every other respect.

ok cool, that answers my questions I think. So Brand to Brand no diff. in power or sound. Am I getting this right?

I mean I know that just adding aftermarket LT Headers will change sound from stock but was wondering about sound from brand vs. brand sound wise.

i think you mean better in every other respect

thicker headers, better O2 sensor placement, easier install, same power. pacesetters are the way to go. also, i believe their coating is superior to even jethot coating in peak temperature resistance (not that any LS1 engine will ever produce exhaust north of 2000 degrees )

QTP's will net you a tad more power with their high velocity merge collectors, but they are double the money of pacesetters. they are, however, stainless steel. if you live near the coast or drive in salty conditions, stainless is a must. here's the breakdown:

pacesetters: $375 - coated, great quality
QTP: $800 - stainless steal, extra ~5rwhp, great quality

if you're loaded, get yourself QTP's. i will be going pacesetter in the future as i have no need for stainless steel headers and the extra couple hp doesn't justify the cost in my eyes.

Unless you are going stainles, get Pacesetters. I just installed mine yesterday and the install was so easy. The hug the block nicely, and everything tucks in where it's supposed to.

As far as sound, I agree with chadtx1, it sounds a lot cleaner and throatier. I like to use the term healthy. It's louder as well, especially if you go with an ORY. Not obnoxiously loud though.

nyteryder, how did you go about the install, did you lift the engine out at all? Or did you just go from bottom without lifting?

Pacesetters are the way to go if you are on a budget. I would rather get the QTP HVMC's over any other header though.

I can confirm QTP HVMCs are worth 5+ RWHP, and a good amount more torque, in my case.

I went from 354/360 RWHP/RWTQ to at least 359 HP and 371 TQ. I say at least because the dyno showed 364 max on one pull and 366 on another. The tuner thought it could be a spike, even though I don' t see one on the graph, but, I have a confirmed 5 horse for sure.

If money permits, consider them.
