I never knew such a muffler existed, but I would say yes, it could substitute for the x-pipe, since it basically is an x-pipe.

@Xtreme864
The shop I went to told me the same thing. for $240 I got straight pipes with chamber 1s dumped. Later on when I have the money to do Headers, cam, Im taking it to someone who knows how to tuck them in nicely. No more scraping.

The only problem with something like this is its size. Where would you put it? You'd have to do some major floorpan modding/trans-delete mod to get that thing to fit in the center without being ripped off when you drove over a paint strip in the road.

I'd just have an H-pipe fabbed in and call it a day. It would make it sound and run better... and be cheaper than a whole new setup.

I was actually planning to put it where a muffler in a 'y' pipe setup would go.

I have zero clearance issues whatsoever. Even when I was on 16's, i would drive up onto a cement platform to work on the car, and the tips of the dumps might kiss the edge of it, but i havent scraped the muffler or any of the pipe yet. The setup looks good (with the exception of the mufflers being kinda banged up, I bought them used), but i'd just like it to be mounted in the middle more.

Traditional 3 bolt flanges require a gasket, which from my experience will leak. Ball/socket flange is a 3 bolt but doesn't require a gasket. I will be using ball/socket flanges in my build, which by the way hasn't even begun... but i do have all the parts, lol.

Hope that helps.
like this ones? are from summit like $20

or butt-joints?

my headers (ebay) dont come with flange , just 3'' pipe

The first picture is the ball end of the ball/socket combo. I have what's pictured above plus the hedman xtensions which have the socket side.

The lower picture there is a band clamp. I've had them before and they will leak. Leaks =

They do in fact leak like crazy. I reused mine but put this ceramic exhaust paste around the clamps and it stopped the leaks. Not sure what I am going to switch to but I might actually just weld everything together, not sure yet.

Yeah, I've got no problem welding everything together. Everyone on here loses their mind when you say that though. If you've got the tools to cut and re weld then go for it. I still might do that, lol. I haven't had to take my exhaust loose from my headers since 2006, and that was to change exhaust. I've pulled the tranny out, swapped the rear end, put in poly engine mounts, etc. I bet you could even take the engine out from the bottom with the exhaust still hooked up. Weld it up.

I'll most likely have it welded but not on the headers. Right now though I have to have it tucked more. There are 2 points on the exhaust where it sits way too low for me.

Yeah that's low. Once you get it where you want it put a bead around it and call it a day.

Not yet. I haven't installed them or even made the first cut in the pipe. I'll post all kinds of stuff about them once I finally get to it. I'm waiting to set my lift up, then I need to diagnose a nasty bearing noise coming from either my bottom end or pilot bearing. That could potentially delay the duals too

I'm picking up my TSP TD's w/ Magnaflow bullets on Sunday. I can't wait to hear 'em. I'll post pics on and off the car.

Cool

So im thinkin of goin trues. Running it off my stock mani and useing my stock cats for the time been till i can save some more money. Running 3'' straight pipes back to some xr-1 muffs. Haven it dumped to 3.5'' turned out tips right in front the rear tiers... cut me a lil screen n the side skirt... for breathing room through the skirt... i think its gonna turn out good. Just an idea im throwing around vs. All the cat back opotions to decide from.

A new video of my setup that kind of gives you the whole experience between revs, take-offs, and drive-by's.

Setup:
-eBay Stainless LT's
-Custom 3" X-pipe without cats
-Borla ProXS mufflers
-Piping under the axle out to the bumper
