Well first they need to cost no money at all which half of the mods you have listed require a trip to the store.

With less than $10, I can hand a stripper a 1 dollar bill 8 different times, and still have enough left over for a pack of skittles. Doesn't sound so "free" anymore now does it?

Whistler is where you turn your headlights a light black by cooking them basically. Wire mod is where you can hide all of the wiring under your hood to clean the engine bay up alot. Do a search on the hatch thing, i've seen it before but i can't recall off the top of my head.

Yeah i made block off plates out of an old license plate i had laying around, they work great. Similar things could be used.

What in the hell are you even talking about? Skittles and strippers WTF? Obviously $10 technically isn't "free" but if you're on a budget and wanting to improve your car, i seriously hope you can shell out ten bucks.

it is very common for fbodys that the rear hatch wont pop up enough to fully unlock, so you have to keep hitting the release and lift up the hatch at the same time...this can be fixed by "piggybackin" the stock spring with a 5/8 x 2.5in spring picked up at any hardware store......whistler mod is for camaros only, where you paint under the lense of the headlight, very common and many people prefer over halo headlights just search and you will find multiple how too's....and wire mod is rerouting all the wires in the engine compartment (on the pass. side in between the fender well and engine compartment greatly cleaning up the bay...just search for that one too

Pretty much all of these are already posted.

Maybe try actually reading some of the sticky's?

BTW - Most of the free mods are a TOTAL waste of time, especially the performance orientated ones.

And come on polishing, as a mod?????

You must be having a laugh. That's just general car maintance.

Yeah polishing is definately not under the category of general maintance. I'm assuming he's talking about under hood polishing to sharpen things up a bit. I agree alot of the free mods are a waste of the time, and things like de-screening your MAF could even be dangerous, but when you're broke and want to mod the car just doing the littlest thing can satisfy you or give you something to work on for a day when your bored etc.

i was talking about underhood polishing, and yes descreening the maf can be dangerous so u decide on wether you wanna do it or not, i did it with no neg. side effects but it is good on high hp applications and w/ running dryshot....

free mods - a day of boredom = satisfaction

But they are already in the sticky's and quite evidently people don't read them, so sadly making a new sticky won't be of any help.

As for every 5bhp, well that would be fine but the majority of the "free" mods you are looking at ZERO - 1bhp gain. And what's more some carry risk where you can actually end up loosing power.

IMO the best free mods are:

-Ported TB
-Bump stop mod (throttle body)
-FRA (but not for drag racing, as it just will not help)

Understanding the how and why is important. You need to know what the car does stock and why it does it. Then you need to understand what the mod you are performing is, what the expected gain should and how it's achieved.

most write ups include pros and cons...or atleast should
and i think more then 1 hp can be added by free mods....many people prefer ported stock tb over $400 aftermarket ones, there have been dyno results showin 6hp on tb bypass and free ram air mod im sure does something at speeds over 60 which are nealy impossible to show on a dyno since you arent moving

as for the descreening

on applications w/ 500+ hp you need all the air you can get

and for dry shot it will prevent the screen from iceing up and blockind flow
