Default Broken Oil Pressure Sending Unit?

ok so im assuming i just effin broke my oil pressure sending unit. Is it a 2" long black plastic cylinder that stands vertically on the back of the motor directly behind the intake? That is snapped off. How the hell do you get the other piece of it out of the motor, its bigger than an inch socket and has to be a specialty tool. Does an autopart store have a op sending unit to replace it with?? How much?? This is so gay, i had a bitch of a time getting that intake out and guess i broke it with the brake booster line

You're not having too much luck with this intake swap.

There is a special socket needed that any autoparts store will have. I believe they also sell oil pressure sensors, but I've never checked. Just have heard that they do.

Helms says it's a J 41712 - Oil pressure sensor socket if that helps. Where did it break off, at the threads? With the intake off maybe you won't need the socket.

Edit: You'll also need GM sealant PN 12346004 or equivalent to install the new one - and don't overtighten, it's only 15 lb ft.

Yeah ive never done much more than look at an LS1 motor, always ford winsor based motors. I wont be doing anything else on this myself, F it lol. This has wasted my whole day off, several gouges and slashed on my hands/fingers from the razor blade of a plastic cowl cover and just plain annoyed this **** out of me haha.. To only be half way done with a blusted op sender and an open egr hole on my gd exhaust manifold. Oh well guess ill be driving the stang for a few days

J 41712 is the socket itself, not the sender unit correct? I only have up to a 1" socket and it wont fit it. Looks like its shaped kinda funny so im figuring a specialty tool (my luck)

Yeah, just the socket itself. If you need the GM PN for the sensor I'll look it up for you. Hang in there...

If you would have done a search before you swapped the intake you would be alot better off. The intake swap is only about a 1 hour job and if you lift straight up with the intake instead of pulling it forward you wont break the sensor.

Well maybe they need to change the name to LS1howtobreak.com because with the brake booster hose behind the sensor you cant ust pull forward on the intake until you have lifted it over the sensor.

Sorry for your bad luck, you did learn something after this so its not all bad.

Its bad that i wont be driving the car till the end of the week now too. This new intake isnt egr so i gotta get a plate to cover the egr hole in my manifold. I dont really have the means to make one. And im gonna end up out about $500 and half a days work for 8rwhp LOL I did learn that i wont be doing any other mods on the car myself just because its not worth effin with. Give me a 5.0 and i can make magic, F working on an ls1..

I broke mine a couple days ago order the part from Advanced came in late couldnt find a socket to fit it anywhere findly found 1 at Orielys. Putting it on today I think the Intake swap is alittle harder than people say if its ur first time doing it. I would love to see some1 swap 1 out in a hour.

Yeah especially when they say pull out on it and you hear a snapping sound as it breaks free. There needs to be a better write up on an intake install. I so wish i had never started to do it myself now. Im gonna end up out almost $500, almost a full days worth of time (the install and driving back and forth to parts stores) for an 8rwhp increase? Thats not even gonna be noticeable. Pretty bunk. Good luck srpwred240.
