Default Ridiculous??

Ok, so I am in need of a new exhaust system. So I decided to call an exhaust guy that I was reffered to by a local shop. The guy told me he would charge me $1500 to do a true dual set-up. Ive been hearing of people on here getting custom setups for like $600 or $700. Am I just confused or is this, in deed, ridiculous??? Any input would be appreciated...

that's high for an over the axle setup (although not outrageously)...hopefully he isn't asking that much for dumped or under the axle

Thats exactly what I was thinking. he told me it was going to be like around $700 for just dumps, if I provide the headers. If anybody knows of a good exhaust shop around Northern VA or MD please let me know. Im comming close to just putting this guys name and shop out there so people can steer clear of this guy.

You will just need to shop around. I am in the same boat. I am trying to find a reputable shop that can fab a system that is a better "value" than the Bassani "True Dual" system. So far, most shops do not want to even try it, especially since I want stainless. Some very reputable shops in MI that I contacted indicated they could do it, but it would be well over $1k.

You need to find a shop that does set ups like these on F-Bodies all the time. They should know exactly what to do and won't have to spend time figuring out how to do it. To someone who has never done a true dual set up on an F-Body the job looks like a real pain in the ***, and it is. That shop will have to kill a **** load of time cause they never did it before, and you have to pay for that time. Someone that does jobs like that all the time, can do it quickly and will offer you a much more competitve price if you bargain with them.

Kick someone in the ***** for that. I paid $420 for my TSP duals (they are $400 now), $130 to have the pipes ran out the back w/ flanges to remove the tails, and $160 for pimpin stainless magnaflow tips. That's $590.

they probably have very little competition and feel that they can charge whatever they want.

I installed the duals, then had the shop fab the extensions and stick the tips on. They also welded some cats in for that $130, but I supplied the cats.

The best shop and guy I've run in to was Denny at Mufflex Performance Exhaust off of 295 exit for hwy 33. I bought the 40ft of 3 1/2in. T304/408 stainless from a vendor for about $299...he bent and welded it. This was for a 68 Caddy Hearse that's over 21ft long. He fabed 3 1/2 true duals from the headers back to 40 series flowmasters and over the axle dumb behind the wheels for about $600 (including the mufflers). I had my y-pipe and 3in. single magnaflow cat-back done for the same price with S/S on my blazer. Yikes $1500...typical...these cookie cutter exhaust shops (midas...etc.) are retarded for prices...and here it's $88.25hr in Jersey. I'm thinking of buying a bendpack bender (roll cages, frames, and exhausts)

hey man i bought mine off ebay for $300 bucks and then took it to a midas shop and i knew the guys bc most of the time they're racers to lol but they charged me a $100 to install it so a total of $400 for it all and i had them run a piece of pipe to my manifold from my exaust bc i dont have headers yet. so your getting ripped off sorry like really bad. you see if they get caught taking your cats off and stuff like that its against the law and a $10,000 fine to the shop so thats why their ifffy bout it.
