Default Bad to run open cutout?

Just curious if it is bad to run an open cutout after the y-pipe all the time? I dont have rear 02's to blow out anymore. I loooove the sound of it and there isnt too much flack from the fuzz for it.

you're thinking of open header. open headers will burn up your O2 sensors. an open y-pipe or cutout will do no damage at all. you could put 3 foot extensions on your headers and be just fine in terms of O2 sensors not burning up. you only have to worry about open headers damaging O2's, nothing more.

I just put my cut on on the rear...Sounds good and deep...Why is it that I lost some low end power??? Feels to lost low end but pulls a tad more around 4700 rpms...Is there anything else I can do to the exhaust to get my low end back when the cut out is open?

if you looked on a dyno, you'd see that you didnt lose any low end... you'll see that the upper end pulls so much harder that it feels like you've lost lowend.

Awesome thanks guys. Ive always heard rumors of it being bad on the valves or something. Better to be safe than sorry so I had to ask.

That's the right mentality to have.

Some questions can be answered by searching, while some others need to be asked.

Also I was wondering, I have the stock muffler still on my car, would I get better mpg with my cut out open or capped?

Why is it sometimes (it only does this with the cut out open) that my car has a problem shifting gears sometimes it will bounce off the rev limiter like 2 times before it will shift. Sounds pretty sick but I know its not good

Ive had mine for a year now and its is hardly ever closed i love the sound but its starting to get a little annoying inside the cab. So in the coming weeks the cutout is coming out and making a custom cat back that is all pipe no cats or muffleur.

We have longtubes, no cats, and an electronic cutout on our Yukon. Sounds freaking SICK wide open (and I've had some pretty sick sounding 4th gen f-bodies).

Very cool to be able to close it when you need to go into stealth mode.

I get better highway mileage with it open and I know I WOULD get better mpg with it open in street driving as well, but my right foot just stays in it so I think that kills me mpg wise.
