Default Problem w/K&N filter

When I got my car it came with a K&N air filter with a stock air box, well I changed the lid asap. I got the clear MTI lid and now i notice there are small dead bugs and small little sticks stuck to the screen of my MAF. Does the K&N not seal up properly in the airbox or did I do something wrong here. If that kinda stuff can get by I'm sure smaller things like dirt/dust are getting by to. Does anyone else have this problem?

I had an MTI lid on my 2000 and the fit SUCKED. Not only that but they acted like ****** about it. Went with a Whisper lid from Thunder Racing this time around and no problems at all

MTI lids don't seal well, that's why you have bugs and stick on your MAF. You're gonna have to put a weather foam seal inside your MTI to seal it on your K&N. No biggie. Also make sure you have your MAF and your stock belows sealed too.

Not sure about the MTI lids but I do know the K&N's have fitment issues and actually require a gasket. As for fitment of lids. I've had a few and noticed fitment issues with a lot of them. I have the Texas Speed clear lid now and it fits fine but still requires some work to get it to seal correctly. It's easier to tell with a clear lid. I'm guessing roughly 35% of f-body owners are probably driving around with a gap between the filter and rear of there lids and don't even know it. Major design flaw in my oppinion.

I use an SLP lid with the foam sea that K&N provided and haven't had an issue yet.

I'm running the MTI clear lid and a K&N filter. I put the foam ring, that came with the K&N filter, on the bottom of the lid. It seals great now.
