How would you wire a light to come on when the power goes off? I guess when the circuit is off it's grounded? And thus can cause another light to go on?

yes, that would work. Like the ASR/TCS switch. When off, it lights.

Hmm... but how would you wire that... the only way I can think of is that you would essentially have two power wires and no ground when it's working and then a power and a ground when it's not working. But, I'm not so sure that's safe to run a hot wire without a ground. I'm thinking way too much today. It sucks.

I'm planning on using a relay (which will include a ground :-)

It'll flip flop a 12v line to the light, when the trigger looses its power signal.
