that's some pretty thin wall header tubing.

would stainless headers be as weak?

im going to patch it. I planned on new headers this winter anyway. I think im going to go with the edelbrock ones ceramic coated insted of powder coated

Anyone will tell you that the best are stainless steel header, but those are very pricey... If you are on a budget, like I was, I got some coated pacesetters. Havent had any issues other than what you are going through....

Kooks and QTP seem to be pretty popular. Look in the sticky in "you wanna be fast" lots of good info exhaust wise.

Mine happened to both sides within 15,000 miles on my Hookers. Sold them and got QTPs, never looked backed.

Heat from the weld made the surrounding material become brittle is what it looks like.
