Decided to go over the axle

I know the DS is a little off. I have to readjust. Alright for now.

Out of curiosity when going under the axle, this would be what I would be afraid of (although I voted over), after jacking up the car and placing the car on jack stands and lowering the axle and having the axle droop down and touch the piping. Does anyone have this problem? Any comments on working on the car like this? How would you get around it?

Is 3" over pretty much impossible if you are lowered?

I've got 3" under but I run a flat oval pipe under the axle for another 1-1.5" of clearance (with the axle). I still wouldn't try to jack it up and let the rear end hang...I've got disconnects right in front of the axle and it takes like 3 minutes to undo it. I've got a 4 post drive-on lift, so it's not a problem for me.

Not that far back...a lot of people reduce to 2.5" after the x-pipe. This actually has about the same area as the 3" pipe (it is wider than 3" but thinner). And it gradually reduces it into an oval and back into a round pipe. They are made as frame clearance tubes, but I'm using them to clear the axle. I don't know if they were really worth it (might give me 1-2" extra between the axle and pipes) but they definitely aren't hurting anything.

How can you make a comment like that after seeing multiple dual 3" over-the-axle guys post up in this thread?

I don't have duals right now, and I'm still debating whether or not I want to spend the money to do it. I have lots of other things to do before exhaust again (fueling, nitrous/FI, motor)

How is 3'' under really the only way.

I have 3'' over the axle and i couldnt be happier. I have the bmr panhard relocation kit and im lowered a good inch on the rear with plenty of room to go 2'' or more. Now if my 315 would fit without rubbing with a 2'' drop is another story. I just think it doesnt look as clean going under the axle.

Glad to see you made the right choice
