Also, is anyone concerned that the HUSKY is recommended for water only? It has a label that states no synthetic oil etc because of possible explosion?
Pretty serious.

is a true catch can supposed to recirculate the oil back in to the loop? i mean, are we supposed to just toss all this oil out everytime?

i can't seem to get the catch can off now. i'm trying to empty it but it won't budge. i even pushed the little pin at the bottom to try and release some pressure but no luck. seems like this thing is sealed pretty tight because of all the pressure it's caught.

Are you sure you are turning it the right way? If you are looking at it a different way then you may just need to reverse what your mind thinks is right. I don't have a problem with mine but the O-rings are a pain to get it screwed back on if it is not seated exactly properly. I left the PCV in the original spot and just spun the 'heat sink' to get it lined up better. I dump my oil and do not reuse it. It is a small price to pay for a clean intake, much like my inline fuel filter...added protection.

guess it just opened easier once it cooled down. twisted right off.

where do i get the inline fuel filter? and how often do you replace it? dosen't that get costly?

also, should i be cleaning the little filter in the catch can? do i just rinse it out with water or do i have to keep buying some kind of refills?

i've noticed that when i empty mine and wash it out that it will quickly refill again about half an inch high and then just stay like that for about 2 days (before i empty it again). plus, the oil is brown and thick, not dark and thin like it should be. is that normal? is something getting in to my oil? a leak somewhere? my car is driving fine, though, and i routinely change the oil every 3000.

All I could find was one made by Kobalt. I got it at Lowes since no one else had the other brand. It says on it that the max temp is 125 degrees. Is that a concern? What does your say as max temp?

i've discovered that a real catch can has worked much better than the homemade one.

Will FI cars produce more oil through the PCV system than NA cars?

Default blowby

I say yes due to increased preasure.

most of the turbo import cars have breathers on there catch cans maybe to relief preasure.

come to think of it allmost all modded imports have catch cans.

Dude, Didn't you know that catch can actually INCREASE horsepower on imports. That's practically their first mod.

catch cans are gay.... I would never use one... vent the pressure into the atmosphere..

Actually I really need a vac. pump....

i just installed a husky filter as my custom catch can on my monte, its not exactly like the ones i see you guys installing but it has a **** on the bottom that looks like its supposed to release pressure if you turn it a certain way. The strange and disappointing thing is that i immediately started hearing the sound of a leak coming from this set up and from the filter can, the odd part is that instead of it being a leak where air is pushing out the leak is actually taking air in from the bottom of the filter container and the **** doesnt seem to stop it. Is this normal? I think im just going ride it for a few miles and see if it does anything. If not im going to pick up one of the filters that you guys are using, they seem to be more simple then the one i got but simplicity in most works, plain and simply....

Thanks!

heres how I did mine, hope it helps. BTW I put my pcv valve after the can thinking maybe it would make it last a lil longer....and I had oil seeping from the facory designed vacuum leak at that stupid ground/heat sink whatever, so that helps that too.Home Depot Catch Can Parts-catchcan.jpg
